The admissions brochure fails to state that family members are not allowed to stay with patients during the pre-operative wait. This is a significant omission, as it creates avoidable anxiety for patients who are already nervous about their procedure and are only informed of this restriction upon arrival. The pre-op nurses showed poor bedside manner when I asked about this. Instead of offering reassurance, they quoted “hospital policy” and then gave reasons that felt dismissive and inaccurate — for example, claiming that “too many people come in and out of rooms,” when in reality only one nurse completed paperwork, followed later by the surgeon and anaesthetist. I was also told I would be going to theatre “shortly,” even though I knew (correctly) that I would be waiting another 1.5 hours. My family member could easily have stayed with me during that entire period, as is standard in the Ulster Independent Clinic and in my previous NHS experiences. The lack of engagement from the pre-op nurse beyond basic paperwork questions made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. The pods themselves felt more like small, bare cells than a calming space prior to surgery — no TV, no artwork, just two chairs and a table. It was far from a soothing environment. In contrast, the theatre staff and post-op nurses were outstanding. They were friendly, proactive, and reassuring, and they made up for the negative pre-operative experience. One final issue: the staff arranging my discharge medication did not check my notes and prescribed a medication I am unable to take. Because the pharmacy had already closed, the only solution was to remove it from the prescription entirely.

As a Nervous patient about to have an Extraction..I was sitting In the waiting room Dreading every second The Receptionist was very nice and made me feel at ease Then after a very short wait ..the time had come for me to face my Fears.. As I sat in the chair the procedure was explained to me in full and the Dentist really made me feel Comfortable and at ease .. The first Extraction had taken place without me even being aware ..so no pain whatsoever Time for the second Extraction.. The Dentist asked me to rinse my mouth And I promise the second Extraction had already been carried out without me being aware ..completely pain free ..the dentist advised me that she should carry out a filling to another one of my teeth ..I was a bit reluctant..she cleaned the area and what I can only describe as her massaging the affected tooth the filling was carried out successfully.. I have a follow on Appointment in January And can Honestly say ..im looking forward to it Oh and to add ...when the Anesthetic wore off I experienced no pain or Discomfort whatsoever..and less than 24 hours later I sat down and enjoyed hot coffee With no Discomfort.... I can't thank you enough for your Treatment..and after 64 years ..im no longer a Nervous Patient Thank you

Time was taken to explain, to answer queries and importantly, to listen. The dentist was also really kind and reassuring which meant a lot to me as I was very, very anxious after an extremely distressing experience with an extraction years ago. Even before the treatment began, Mr Yasin El-Wajeh exuded competence and I knew I was in good hands. Indeed, he had no sooner administered anaesthetic than he was holding the offending tooth. The extraction took less than five minutes. I would highly recommend Mr Yasin El-Wajeh for his ultimate professionalism, skill and warm compassion. I am so grateful to him and the lovely staff at Scunthorpe Orthodontics.

I have just attended a post op review with my consultant. From receptionist to radiographer ( review xray ) to consultant all staff were welcoming , friendly and empathetic. The time waiting to be seen was minimal and each staff member was efficient and ensured the visit was without issue and all concerns were addressed . Mr Islam, my consultant ,discussed In detail my postop xray and listened to my experience of recovery with interest and empathy - allowing me to tell him anything that had concerned me. My post op recovery status was assessed and encouragement given for further progress with a one year review planned . I left the appointment completely satisfied that I had treated by a person with the highest level of skill and professional attitude.

I have been struggling with CPAP therapy. By being completely determined I tolerate the mask and therapy, with what seems to be high marks, according to statistics -machine generated, (low AHIs, 8 hours no leaks etc.) However I don't feel, and never have felt rested.-six months on. I contacted professor Vir as it seemed to me that there must be other factors at play and my local hospital could only offer CPAP and nothing else. My consultation with Professor Veer was excellent. He took a detailed history, made an initial examination and suggested possible underlying causes and further examinations. His communication skills are exceptional and he is obviously very much on top of his speciality and passionate about it.

Dr Karolina Afors is highly skilled and compassionate doctor. I started seeing DrAfors for a range of pain and suspected endometriosis symptoms. She took plenty of time to read through my pages and pages of notes at our first appt. After being dismissed by other doctors who called my list of symptoms "sensory overload", she was a breath of fresh air with lots of ideas, and she was invested in helping me get my life back from pain. The medicines she has prescribed me for my endometriosis have changed my life and she always has a range of suggestions for symptom management of many conditions. Cannot recommend her enough. I've got my life back with her help.

I was very apprehensive about getting both of my eyes done at the same time. I cant believe how easy and painless it was ,all of the staff were amazing in looking after me and putting me at ease. Having 24 hr support was amazing ,my concerns were addressed quickly . If only everything was as easy as this ,within 3 days i could see perfectly ,i never realised how much of a difference it would make . From my consultant ,nursing staff, opthamologists, domestic staff and receptionist they went above and beyond in their care. Nothing was too much bother. Dont hesitate to go ,you will be amazed .

I found out at the appointment. I believe that I should of been told prior to the appointment. I would have prepared myself before the operation of what to expect. I had some balance testing done due to vertigo I’ve been experiencing and it was incredibly thorough. The audiologist who ran the test explained every test in detail to me so that I would know what was about to happen and what I had to do. She also answered all my questions about what was happening and what she was looking for as we went along. I don’t think it gets more thorough and detailed than this.

Recent visit fur a knee replacement event. Theatre staff were brilliant keeping me informed of everything they were doing. Recovery nurses also very helpful and cheery. Ward staff were helpful. More information at discharge would be good. Details of medication were well explained but information about how much to mive about, how to deal with swelling not so well covered.
