This review is 4 years later than it should be, because I only today came across the scan code to do a review. 4 years or 40 years, I will never forget the magnificent Dr Gergana Peeva who delivered our second and final child for our family. I had a very traumatic experience when I was forced into an elective c section at another hospital with our first child, the choice to have a natural birth was taken from me despite my having no medical issues but because I was an older mum, the Dr strongly advised it and as I didn’t know any better, i made the mistake of listening to the Dr. It took me many years to recover from the traumatic c section when induction failed. So second time around, I chose Homerton Hospital as I read many good things on the Care Commission website. When my waters broke, I made it clear at the hospital I wanted to have a natural birth, the difference it the nurses and Dr’s listened to me this time and this really made all the difference to me both mentally and emotionally. After 2 days and much helpful, caring and understanding dialogue between the Dr’s and myself, I agreed to a c section. But this time it was my decision and it was because I understood natural birth was not progressing which was harmful to the baby. Dr Peeva took me aside and gently explained things and we went through my concerns. The nurse who assisted, I can’t remember her name due to the years that have passed, I think her name was Genesis, was also wonderful in her care towards me. I was open to all staff on my previous traumatic c- section at the other hospital and they were willing to listen and their empathy made my second birth, albeit a c section again as I had not wanted, a much better and happier overall experience. When Dr Peeva held up our baby following delivery and imitated the scene from the lion king, it has etched in my mind and memory with deep fondness for her. I can and will never forget the kindness, professionalism and simply goodness of Dr Peeva, a wonderful and amazing human being regardless of her profession.

Mr Nick Ohly

When I went for the original consultation I had requested Mr Ohly on the recommendation of a friend whose hip he had replaced. I had deliberately not looked up his credentials as I wanted the first hand impression. (Of course I would follow this up subsequently.) At the initial meeting I liked his approach. He covered a lot of ground in language which was accessible to someone not at all clear on how bad my knee was, far less what could be done. I was not talked down to, and thus I felt able to ask questions, the answers to which I really wanted to know in order to look at how I was going to manage the whole business mentally and physically. I knew so little at that point, but in the following months I read and slowly became clear on what was about to happen. During that time I sent him a few emails and his responses were always prompt and thorough. I was scheduled for the operation in early October, but for reasons beyond his control, it had to be postponed. None of my preparation had included that possibility. Having geared myself up for it, I was extremely distressed at this turn of events. Mr Ohly took time to talk me through the situation and reassure me. He could have left it to someone else, but he did not. By the time I got to the operation I had full confidence in him because of how he had treated me as a human being. He knew I was scared and he managed that very well. I was not dismissed. When he came to see me after the operation he was professional and kindly. I was just relieved. In my follow up meeting he very shrewdly picked up on my concerns and dealt with them well. Seven weeks on I can see a future which I had thought was disappearing as my life shrank to cope with the pain I was enduring. I will never climb Mount Everest but I can climb stairs, something I could only do with extreme distress two months ago.

From my initial appointment with Mr Hoo, I felt all my questions were answered and felt at ease, from the onset I knew I would choose Mr Hoo as my surgeon. I had done a lot of research for my procedure and felt reassured from my initial appointment. Pauline (Mr Hoo’s nurse) was also very informative and patient regarding any questions which I had. My surgery was booked and due to unforeseen circumstances had to rescheduled, Brenda in appointments was very helpful and offered me a cancellation slot which I was very thankful for. On the day of surgery, I was admitted into the admission pod and here all staff were attentive, I met with the anaesthetist and Mr Hoo and thereafter went to theatre. The theatre nurse and anaesthetist were so lovely, talked me through everything and I felt reassured. Thereafter, in the recovery ward, the nurse was excellent when asked about pain, I was immediately given pain meds which eased the pain and brought upstairs to a room which the excellent care continued. Mr Hoo came to see me and answer any further questions, truly 5* service from the onset. The hospital was spotless and attention to detail by all staff was exceptional.

The staff were incredibly helpful, understanding and supportive. I explained my concern and was given an urgent appointment. Vanessa S is the perfect person for her role and puts people at ease immediately. She secured me a hearing test and a consultation appointment on the same day. She also helped me with some of the administrative elements of using my private healthcare as the process has changed since I last used it. Very helpful, friendly, professional and reassuring. I was greeted on arrival, immediately shown to the waiting area and taken straight through to my first appointment, even though I was a few minutes early. Cannot fault the service I received and the care and professionalism was consistent throughout.

She listened to all my concerns and gave me good advice on therapy and pharmacological treatment. I conducted some research before booking with Diverse Minds Clinic, and I was reassured because the clinic is registered with the CQC (unlike some other popular services in London), and Dr Cappai also works in the NHS as an ADHD specialist. The building in central London, Harley Street, is very elegant, and I felt comfortable during the long assessment (I had a 3-hour ADHD and ASD assessment), and Dr Cappai allowed some breaks and ensured I was at ease. The appointment started on time, and the report was very thorough. I am happy with the service. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We were lucky enough to get into the appointment before our allotted time. Mr Mohammad seemed like a very nice person, but I felt very rushed, I wasn’t shown the MRI scan, The situation was not explained to us in depth,just offered options of an injection or surgery involving “metal work” which scared me somewhat. So I chose the injection as seemed a less scary choice to start with. We were told this would be put forward, then we left , all taking about five minutes, not really very reassuring. Hopefully I may get another chance for someone to explain what the operation with the “ metal work” would involve. So I would feel more confident with what needs to be done

I would definitely recommend Dr. Natalie Nunes. Having a private consultation with a Black female gynecologist provided a level of reassurance I haven’t found elsewhere; I knew my concerns wouldn't be brushed aside, which has unfortunately been my experience in the past with other doctors. Dr. Natalie took the time to go through my MRI results in detail, even sharing her screen to walk my husband and me through the images—something no doctor had ever done for us before. Her dedication is unmatched; she has been incredibly responsive to all my follow-up questions, even taking the time to reply on Christmas Day! I am so grateful for her expertise and genuine care.

I couldn’t recommend Mr. Holland enough - he’s exceptional at what he does whilst also being an incredibly kind and caring individual. I came in to see him on 24th November with severe abdominal symptoms after receiving poor treatment from NHS A&E services. He straight away diagnosed me with ovarian torsion and performed emergency surgery that day to remove the cyst. The treatment and care I received was second to none and his calm and professional demeanour put me at ease despite a very scary situation. Thank you so much for everything you have done Mr Holland!

Mr Haslam completed my first full knee replacement in 2019 and this has been very successful. Prior to completing the first knee replacement Mr Haslam identified a skin lesion on my leg and referred me for further investigation. This was invaluable as the lesion was confirmed as a melanoma which was successfully removed prior to the knee replacement. I had not noticed the lesion myself so this was a critical intervention that may otherwise have gone undetected. The knee recovered well after surgery and has been a total success.

I recently underwent Strasbismus surgery to correct a squint I developed as an adult. The whole process was excellent, from the initial consult and explanation through to the operation and then to the post-op consultation. Everything was well explained to me and very professional. The surgery was a success and I now am able to see without double vision! I would thoroughly recommend John and his team - I was a bit nervous going into it, but they looked after me very well and kept me reassurred.

Mr Harsum took great care and spent time discussing the likely outcome of my cataract operations in terms of the impact on my vision in general. He also gave me several pointers towards avoiding any further deterioration in my eyesight due to macular degeneration, which was over and above the expected benefits of the actual cataract operations. I now have excellent distant vision restored and confidence about the future.

Marris Medical were great from start to end. Booking the appointment was easy, with friendly staff. On the day of the appointment I was taken in earlier, the MRI procedure was explained and completed with ease. I was told I would get my report in 24-48 hours (over the festive period) however received it the same day in the afternoon. I would highly recommend them. I would definitely use them again if needed.

The MRI scan was really quick, and the staff made sure I was comfortable the entire time. They were really kind, and explained every step of the process so I knew what to expect. As it was an abdominal/pelvic MRI scan, I was given gowns and socks to wear during the procedure, so I didn't need to worry about having metal in my clothing. I also received a CD of my scans on request.

I saw the GP within an hour of calling. GP was friendly, confident and extremely competent. I was able to discuss the medication options and I felt part of the process in a very positive way.
