Mr Mark Duxbury is a Consultant General and Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) Surgeon with expertise in liver, pancreatic, gallbladder and biliary surgery. He practises privately at Ross Hall Hospital and Ross Hall Clinic Braehead and his NHS practice is based at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, primarily at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Mr Duxbury has specialist expertise in the management of benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and biliary system. He also performs minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, complex gallbladder surgery, hernia repair and a range of general surgical procedures, including the treatment of abdominal pain and minor surgical conditions.
After completing his medical training at the University of Oxford Medical School, Mr Duxbury undertook a full-time research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, investigating novel treatments for pancreatic cancer and liver metastases. He completed higher surgical training on the Eastern Deanery (Cambridge) rotation before undertaking advanced subspecialty training in hepatopancreaticobiliary and transplantation surgery in Edinburgh.
As a Clinician Scientist Fellow, Mr Duxbury was a Principal Investigator at the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre, collaborating with leading cancer centres across the UK and internationally. He has also held Clinical Lecturer positions at the The University of Edinburgh and University of Glasgow.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Duxbury has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the editorial boards of several international scientific journals. He has received numerous awards recognising his contributions to surgery and research, including the Moynihan Fellowship, Syme Medal, ASGBI Medal, AUGIS Fellowship, Patey Prize, BJS Prize, BASO Prize and the John Mannick Award. He is also an experienced medicolegal expert witness and is listed on the UK Register of Expert Witnesses and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) expert list.
