We support the delivery of over 6,000 babies each year at St Thomas’ Hospital, making our maternity service one of the largest in London. Our highly skilled team of specialists can support all types of pregnancy, including the most complex.

Westminster Maternity Suite

Westminster Maternity Suite is our dedicated consultant-led private maternity service at St Thomas’ where we support 400 private births each year. We have spacious, single-occupancy, en-suite rooms that offer wonderful views over the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey – an ideal setting for welcoming a newborn in privacy and comfort.

We provide complete care, including pregnancy scans, antenatal classes run by expert midwives, and support with delivery and breast or bottle feeding. Our hospital-based delivery options include vaginal births, caesarean sections (C-sections) and assisted deliveries (where we use instruments to assist with delivery, like a suction cup). After birth, we offer wraparound care for mum and baby, including infant feeding support and physiotherapy, helping parents to prepare for life at home.

Our virtual midwife-led antenatal classes provide practical support and evidence-based information to help you prepare for birth and life with your new baby. The classes are available to everyone, whether you’re having your baby at The Westminster Maternity Suite or simply wish to join for expert advice. Integrated care

As our private maternity service is provided as part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Specialist Care, you can benefit from the expertise of Evelina London Children’s Hospital which is co-located at St Thomas’.

We can integrate children’s care into your birthing plan if needed. We also have high dependency and intensive care facilities providing 24-hour support for premature and sick babies, should that level of care be needed.

Our Well Baby Clinic provides multidisciplinary support across general medicine, plastic surgery, dietetics and lactation. As part of our service, we can perform baby health checks at birth, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year to support the health of your baby at key milestones.

In addition, expectant mothers with heart concerns can be seen by our cardiology specialists at Royal Brompton Hospital, which is a world-leading centre for heart care. By working together, we support a safer pregnancy.

We are proud to be part of the NHS. Income from our private patient service is reinvested into our NHS Trust for the benefit of all patients.
