Mr Spyros Bakalis is a clear and reassuring specialist in his patient interactions. He provides outstanding guidance throughout pregnancy and delivery, handling both vaginal deliveries and C-sections with skill. Patients value his detailed explanations during scans and his availability for questions, often via WhatsApp, ensuring a smooth and supportive journey. His expertise covers pregnancy care, ultrasound, maternal and foetal medicine, obstetrics, and C-section procedures.
I was extremely pleased with the care I received from Spurs during my pregnancy and delivery. He kept me informed, made me feel supported, and provided excellent care every step of the way. I am truly grateful for his dedication and for making my delivery experience such a positive one.
I had a great experience with Dr Bakalis throughout my pregnancy and delivery. From our first appointment, he made me feel supported and informed. It was important to me that our obstetrician was also a fetal medicine specialist so he will also perform the growth scan throughout and have a complete picture of our case. Dr Bakalis would take the time to explain every detail of our baby’s growth and always answered our questions with clarity. I truly appreciate that he was always available on whatsapp which made our communication very efficient and had put me at ease at times. Dr Bakalis respected my birth plan while providing his advice to ensure the safety of both me and my baby when adjustments had to be considered. He also handled high stress situations during the delivery with confidence and calm demeanour. I thank Dr Bakalis for his support and partnership.
Dr. Bakalis was truly exceptional and made our entire pregnancy such a positive and reassuring experience. From our very first scan at 9 weeks, he was calm, kind, and incredibly supportive. As first-time parents—especially after a difficult journey to conceive—his clear, thoughtful, and reassuring approach immediately put us at ease. He always took the time to explain everything in a way that felt both thorough and easy to understand, which meant so much to us. When it came to our birth plan, Dr. Bakalis was wonderfully supportive and respectful of our wishes. He really listened, and made us feel good about each decision. Knowing he was always available to answer questions, even via WhatsApp, gave us such comfort and confidence throughout. The birth itself was an incredibly positive experience, and we are so grateful to have had Dr. Bakalis guiding and supporting us every step of the way. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.
Dr Bakalis recently delivered our premature twins, he was so calm and reassuring and would check in with us each morning after my c-section. Throughout my pregnancy I could always contact Dr Bakalis and he would come back to me quickly and efficiently.
I had a very positive birth experience with Dr Bakalis. My labour was smooth, and the doctor provided outstanding guidance and support throughout, which made the whole process feel much easier. The antenatal care during my pregnancy was also very professional, attentive and reassuring. I'm truly grateful for the care I received and so happy that I chose this doctor for my pregnancy and birth. I would happily recommend Dr Bakalis to others.
Spyros has delivered both of our daughters, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly. As an academic working on medical law and ethics, I was in the unfortunate position of reading about bad births for a living, and so naturally approached my own with a degree of trepidation. Spyros made me feel completely safe throughout. In my view, he strikes the perfect balance between listening too and seeking to facilitate your own priorities for your birth, and offering clear evidence-based clinical advice. My first birth was a long, but ultimately uncomplicated, vaginal delivery (following an induction), while my second was a planned c-section after our baby presented in breech position (and small). Although she ultimately refused to turn, making a vaginal delivery imprudent, I really valued Spyros’ genuine attempts to facilitate a vaginal delivery, and his clear and confident advice towards the end of the pregnancy when we became aware of her size and position. The surgery and recovery were both very smooth, and the community midwives commented twice on how neat my scar was compared to some others. Spyros is an incredibly nice man with a good sense of humour (which is important during some of the more intimate or unpleasant moments of pregnancy and childbirth). He is also very available and responsive on his phone, if there are things you are worried about at any stage in the pregnancy. Overall, two good (and very different) birth experiences, and if we have a third, we will definitely return to Spyros!
Mr Bakalis was my OB for my first pregnancy and the experience was extremely positive. He was very clear in explaining everything I should expect at every appointment and showed me the ultrasound scans very clearly. he was calm and pragmatic in making recommendations for lifestyle changes i should make throughout the pregnancy. When it came time to deliver, my baby decided to arrive 3 weeks early and Mr Bakalis was there in the hospital at 1:00 am reassuring me before we went into surgery. i had a c-section and my scar is healing beautifully. Very small (even though there was a big old baby to get out of it!)
Dr. Bakalis is excellent! I had all my prenatal scans with him as well as an elective c-section and thanks to him I had an anxiety-free pregnancy. I found it amazing that he is an OBGYN doctor who also specialises in maternal/fetal medicine, as it was very reassuring to be under his care from the start of the pregnancy to the delivery date. He is super knowledgeable, calm and patient. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Bakalis is a great professional and a very nice person. He is an empathetic person, an excellent listener, and I particularly appreciated his pragmatism. We warmly recommend him.
My wife had her pregnancy care with Dr Bakalis and we were very happy with the whole experience. He gives women a lot of freedom to choose their preferred position for delivery and respects their birth preferences. During labour he was especially supportive and guided my wife through the process in a calm and reassuring way. We felt well looked after throughout and would highly recommend him.
I have know spyros for more than 10 years first as a subspecialist in fetal medicine and subsequently as an imminent consultant is St Thomas Hospital. As well as an amazing doctor he is also a caring human being who puts his patients interest at heart. .
