Mr Sunil Sharma

I underwent my orthopaedic training in Glasgow and the West of Scotland before undertaking sub-specialty training in shoulder surgery. I completed a one-year fellowship at the internationally renowned Reading Shoulder Unit under the supervision of the late Mr Stephen Copeland and Mr Ofer Levy, where I developed my expertise in shoulder surgery.

In 2006–2007, I was awarded both the Scottish Travelling Fellowship and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society North American Travelling Fellowship. These fellowships gave me the opportunity to visit leading shoulder surgeons at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Clinique Générale in Annecy, France.

I am actively involved in teaching and research and am a faculty member on shoulder arthroscopy and shoulder arthroplasty courses.

My practice offers a one-stop shoulder clinic, designed to streamline the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder conditions. Where appropriate, I perform a clinical examination, radiographs and shoulder ultrasound during the initial consultation to help diagnose shoulder problems. I specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of shoulder and elbow conditions. I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2007, and my areas of expertise include shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder replacement surgery, including resurfacing and reverse shoulder arthroplasty, as well as the surgical fixation of shoulder and elbow fractures. My practice is audited using internationally validated outcome measures.
