Following the award of multiple competitive Research Fellowships (ARC Research Fellowship, Action Research and Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship), Mr. Brew completed an extensive period of research into osteoarthritis, improving the understanding its causes. This work was published in internationally renowned journals and has been presented at international meetings, resulting in the award of a Doctorate in Medicine by the University of Manchester. 

Mr. Brew continues his interest outside of his clinical work in teaching both medical students and junior doctors and is a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for several junior doctors in training and teaches on local and national courses. Mr Holton will fully evaluate and offer the best treatments for his patients, including paediatric patients who may have conditions from birth, he knows that these often need ongoing treatment. These conditions including hip dysplasia, perthes disease, SCFE (slipped capital femoral epiphysis), FAI (Femoro-acetabular impingement), AVN (Avascular necrosis) and hip osteoarthritis . Surgical management of the these conditions can include hip arthoscopy (key hole surgery), hip osteotomies (bone realignment surgery) and hip replacements. 

Mr Holton’s has undertaken extensive training in his field, including his specialist international hip fellowship undertaken in Denmark under the excellent mentorship of Professor Kjeld Soballe, Mr Martin Lamm and Mr Bent Lund. This allowed him to gain further exposure to hip replacement and hip arthroscopy. He learnt the technique of minimally invasive PAO (peri-acetabular osteotomy) under world renowned PAO surgeon Prof Kjeld Soballe. Prior to his Danish fellowship he also undertook a nationally recognised fellowship performing hip arthroscopy and total hip replacement under Mr Jon Conroy in Harrogate, UK. 

In addition to his practice, Mr Holton is also active in the field of research, with a strong and active research background founded on his MSc (Mechanical Engineering) where he investigated the use of bone graft in total hip replacement in 2012.
