Mr. Aruna Munasinghe is a Consultant General Laparoscopic Surgeon, with a special interest in Upper GI and Weight Loss Surgery. He has an NHS base at Bedfordshire Hospitals where he is the Clinical Lead for Safety and Clinical Governance, and the welfare of his patients' is at the heart of all of his practice.
Mr. Munasinghe qualified from Guy's & St Thomas's Hospital, and has enjoyed outstanding Postgraduate Training in London, the South East and the West Midlands. He undertook a period of research at Imperial College London and a fellowship in Bariatric and Complex Upper GI Surgery at St George's Hospital, London.
In addition to maintaining high standards in his NHS and Private Practice, he is also a passionate educator and is a trainer in Bariatric Surgery, Keyhole Hernia Repair, Trauma and Endoscopy.
Mr. Munasinghe is pleased to offer a large range of common general surgical procedures which will be performed through a keyhole route wherever possible to minimise pain and for a faster recovery. His main areas of interest are in the treatment of Obesity, Reflux Disease, Gallstones and Hernia. He is happy to see patients of varying complexity, for both primary and revision (redo-) procedures.

There are not enough stars to rate Mr Aruna Munasinghe’s care. From my first consultation in which he went through all procedures in detail and gave me all of the information I needed to make the right decision for me, to the discussions in hospital before and after surgery and my post operative consultation, Aruna was kind, extremely knowledgeable and so helpful! I couldn’t be happier with my choice of surgeon and would recommend him to anyone looking for weight loss surgery! Thank you so much for changing my life for the better!!!

I have known Mr Munasinghe since 2004. We have been colleagues for a long time since we have been research fellows at the St. Mark's Hospital. Mr Munasinghe is great surgeon and has a vast knowledge base. He treats his patients and colleagues with respect. Over the years, I have been impressed with his clinical decision making and operative skills. Overall he is a nice human being to be around with. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
