I was referred to Newmedica Newcastle for eye cataract surgery by my optician. I had my first eye surgery done in September, and my second eye done in December. I received excellent service from all the Newmedica colleagues whenever I visited; for my pre-surgery consultation, the surgeries themselves, and the post-surgery visits. Those working on the reception were friendly and made me feel welcome. The waiting area was clean and tidy, with hot drinks available. The colleagues who did the testing, pre-surgery administration, and post-surgery follow up checks were all very knowledgeable. They took me through the surgery preparations, explaining the process as they went, putting me at ease and answering any questions. After surgery they made sure I was aware of what I needed to do over the following three weeks to ensure my eyes healed completely. The surgical team were very proficient, and I felt I was in safe hands. The procedure was explained at every step, putting me at ease. The consultant for my first procedure was Nicholas Wride. The procedure itself took just under 3 minutes, which I had not expected, as internet searches indicated it would take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. I was so impressed and, as I was told I could have the same consultant for the cataract removal procedure on my second eye, I didn’t hesitate to ask for Nicholas Wride again. My second procedure was equally as expertly performed, and this time took 3 minutes 20 seconds. There was no pain during the procedures and only very slight discomfort straight afterwards. Other than the pain relief eye drops that were put in for the surgical procedure, I didn’t need to take any painkillers at all. The hardest part for me was remembering to use the post-surgery eye drops the clinic provided, as my eyes felt that good. Three weeks after surgery, I attended the clinic for post-surgery follow up checks. I was signed off from the clinic after the follow up check on my second eye. My vision is now excellent, and I only need to use reading glasses for small print. Before the surgery I wore varifocal lens glasses at all times. I wasn’t expecting the improvements in my sight to be quite so good, so I’m pleased I took up the opportunity to have my cataracts removed and really pleased that it was Newmedica Newcastle who did the procedures and looked after me and my sight so well. Mr.Webb operated on my left hip in 2018 which was very successful so when I knew that my right hip was troubling me I made an appointment to see him in October 2024 because I valued his expertise & wanted him to perform the operation. As soon as I arrived Mr.Webb referred to my notes & had checked my physio's report & between us we decided that surgery was necessary which was planned for early 2025. Mr.Webb in my opinion is an outstanding consultant. He is clear & concise in what he plans to do. He listens to any concerns & involves me in any decision making. He is personable & friendly with an appropriate touch of humour which certainly helped me overcome many of my fears. Post op he visited me every day & reassured me that all was well & sent post op notes to my physio advising her on the appropriate level of exercise which has resulted in my full recovery for which I am very grateful. One year on I feel I am now living a full life due to his excellent surgery & the ability to do different kinds of exercise which helps psychologically & in all sorts of other ways. For anyone contemplating hip surgery I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Webb.

I’d long ago resigned myself to the fact that I was going to be in pain and essentially disabled because of knee problems for the rest of my life. In July of 2025 a full knee replacement operation was performed on my right knee at the Royal Derby hospital. The result has been nothing short of a miracle. The pain is literally non existent. The range of movement resembles my left knee. I’m climbing ladders to carry out home improvements, I’m taking walks with my little one, I’m able to carry on with my hobbies which involve working on cars and motor cycles. All this after only 6 months of the operation. Thank you doctor Quah. Thank you also to all the wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting along the way and for all their assistance and patience with my grumpiness at times. From the food service lady who brought me a snack out of hours because I was peckish and thank you to all the nurses, doctors, orderlies… so many.. too many to mention Thank you everyone. I’m disappointed that I can’t go back in time and thank everyone personally, but hopefully this message gets to the right people and they’ll know who they are..😃

This whole experience has been rubbish. One of the questions asked if I had ever had polyps, which I had but 15 years ago, and because I clicked yes, recommended me as not suitable for screening...a lot can happen in 15 years, and it didn't ask me how long ago it was. The form was clunky to use and complete. In the results letter it said if I still wanted screening despite my results, to go to my results page. However when I went to that page it gave no options to select screening. It showed a Submit button on the results page, but would not let me proceed as I had not selected a service, however there were no services to select. The results letter gave me a link asking for feedback, either a quick survey or a detailed survey. When I clicked the detailed one it came up with an Error404 message. When I clicked the quick survey, it asked me questions about recent visits, were the staff friendly, was the practice clean etc, instead of asking any questions about my experience with the recent cancer screening survey...they were completely irrelevant.

This was my first colonoscopy procedure so I didn’t know what to expect and was quite anxious. Looking at the patient reviews on this site beforehand really helped me so I wanted to add my own comments here as well. The 2 day preparation for my late afternoon procedure (fasting and drinking the cleansing medication) was actually the worst part, however I followed the instructions and kept myself very hydrated throughout, that along with a couple of boiled sweets in the last couple of hours to stop the hunger pangs really helped. The clinic staff were all really friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived and talked me through the process throughout so I knew what to expect. I had sedation for the procedure itself which was completely painless, and I got the results quickly. At all times my wellbeing was prioritised by the staff, with 1 to 1 nursing and a very welcome drink and biscuit afterwards. Special thanks from me to Roberta and Dr Khan, and my aftercare nurse whose name I forgot (sorry!)

Dr Pieri is a fantastic surgeon. I had breast reduction surgery 2 year ago; my results are life changing, he done such an amazing job. I have recently had further surgery under local anaesthetic to remove a new breast lump in January 2026 at The Beverley Hospital by Dr Pieri, who again has done an amazing job. Dr Pieri and his team at The Beverley Hospital are outstanding, they are all so friendly, professional and made me feel so at ease for my surgery. I was looked after by Helen, Tracy and Lydia who were absolute angels. They’re also great when needing to call for any worries or queries, happy to go above and beyond for any help and support. The new Beverley Hospital is beautiful inside also, I felt like I was in a spa not a hospital. I could not recommend Dr Pieri and his team enough to anyone wanting to undergo any plastic surgery!

My follow-up consultation went perfectly. I described some of the symptoms I had experienced following my operation, and how pleased I was with progress so far. Mr McFarlane explained clearly what might happen during the next 6 months, and also that the tests on my tissue eliminated any doubts I might have had about cancer. He made it very clear that I could contact him (or my GP) if there were any changes to my progress. I left the Bath Clinic feeling very reassured that I had been in safe hands throughout.

It was a private appoint & I paid for the ILR device. That was fine but I have been disappointed with the follow up since which seems to provide no reassurance that the ILR results are being looked at / reviewed so it is a case of assuming "no news is good news". In my view this is poor, if not unsatisfactory and it seems to me an initial 3 month review email followed by half yearly emails would be welcomed by patients. Also issue of contact phone numbers would be helpful e.g. technical. episode queries

It wasn’t until I became under Mr Sikander I had found a consultant that listened and really understood my symptoms . I have had several procedures done now by Mr Sikander all of which are helping the pain , I totally trust any advice given and would fully Recommend Mr Sikander to anyone who is suffering daily with back and leg pain .

Very good. Only learning I would say is the pharmacy don't stock the medication and said they couldn't get it. Also reception tablets take too long to navigate and would feel better if staff would help complete things for a fuller experience especially for older people or people with children.
