RTN Mental Health - Right To Choose

I first started my process in January 2025, using right to choose. There wasn’t a lot of information to choose between providers so I went with the fastest assuming they’d all have to be of a standard to qualify with the NHS. RTN advertised a fast service somewhere up to 12 weeks. Communication is extremely poor. The stages and processes are not explained. Everything is digital, you’re bombarded With a stream of individual emails directing you to forms or questionnaires that have to be completed on a portal that is unfriendly to use. You receive repeated requests for the same information and it’s not clear if you’ve already completed something on the portal. Links expire before you’ve had a chance to read your email so expect delays. Support is poor, if you need help when navigating the forms phone lines are open reduced days and hours differ. Email support is slow and if you have any communication impairment this can be further complicated because of misunderstandings, leading to long email exchanges which are exhausting. It’s very hard to get an update on where you are in the process. There is no transparency. All cases will be different so it’s understood exact times can’t be given but it would be helpful to understand the stages and where you are up to and next steps. This doesn’t happen. I made the mistake of leaving them to their own devices to update me and didn’t chase for 3/4 months, finding they had lost some of my test results. When choosing my first appointment with them online, no information is given on the assessor to make an informed choice so I chose the earliest appointment. The assessor was a graduate fresh out of university, in post for around 6 months. They were not a qualified psychiatrist or psychologist. I was not told this when booking the appointment and offered to go back on the waiting list if I wanted a doctor. The next stage is with a psychiatrist but it’s a long wait because the initial report by the graduate has to be checked. The psychiatrist I saw was an outsourced contractor, I had a poor experience with and there was a communication breakdown. Because they are paid for only the allotted time, for which he was late, he cut me off, very abruptly and he did not follow up when he said information would be sent to me about autism screening. I then received a request to complete an additional test which I later was told was not appropriate. No context is given when you receive these requests and abbreviations and clinical language is used without explanation. Pp RTN then did not attach the results to my file or progress my case. I’m still not sure why this was as when I’ve complained it’s not been fully explained to me. This is very worrying as it suggests no one is reviewing your case. There appears to be no safe guards. I next received a questionnaire titled ‘CV’. This is presumably a precursor to receiving a titration appointment. So I got excited as it’s been 11 months to get to this point. It stand for Cardiovascular by the way. I provide the stats. Then I get three more requests for the same thing.Another indicator no one is monitoring this. I had my first titration appointment in December and a script was written on the 11th, but I still don’t have my meds (it’s 4th Jan), because RTN use an online pharmacy. I wasn’t told to expect an email registration from a company called Cure Connect. RTN sent me an appointment for a follow up even though I hadn’t received my meds. This is how I found out about Cure Connect. I registered with them and they dispatched my meds without texting me so I had no idea what date to expect them. I was away for Christmas. Turns out they have the wrong phone number for me. Cure connect Are digital only and it’s extremely difficult to get in touch with them as they use two factor authentication to access their portal and it was broken when I tried contacting them. They direct you to the portal when you try and seek help. They use Royal Mail tracked 24 and I had to organise a redirect. But it’s not guaranteed. So I’ve been waiting in for two days now and still don’t have my meds. I cut my Christmas break short to drive 163 miles to get back for the redirect. You’re on your own when it comes to navigating Royal Mail and can’t get through to a human. So if you like digital portals, self service and dealing with three company’s through digital mean, being tied down to home for days on end each month to receive your medication this is the company for you the irony of course is that you’d struggle with non written instructions and these types of systems when you have ADHD. RTN are unsympathetic to this and say they can’t send patients individual information /instructions about Cure Connect. Complaining gets you nowhere. They just say they have unprecedented demand and reduced support is temporary. But I’ve read complaints that go back at least 18 months. That’s it temporary, that’s their normal BAU. I’m not sure if they prioritise private referrals but they’ve clearly bid low for the NHS contract based on volume and cannot handle the workload. We are suffering for it.

I sought treatment after being refused by the state health care services here in Germany. They congratulated me that I was healthy when my bloodworm showed testosterone levels of 280ng/dL (cut off point for treatment is 220) and sent me on my way, feeling exhausted no matter how much rest or sleep I got I wasn’t able to be a good dad for my two little children which is heartbreaking for me. So I took matters into my own hands and settled on BMH after contacting a few provider. Extremely professional, the case manager Tal was consistently attentive, showed genuine interest in my case. After two blood tests over the course of six weeks I was accepted and within a couple of weeks thereafter started treatment. Well, what a life changing experience that was. If you have creaking joints, feel tired all the time, libido on the way out, just go for it. Become alive again. No need to live like that. Anyway, I hope that is convincing enough for you dear reader! State health services are no longer fit for purpose. Whether you get treatment is a financial decision and doesn’t reflect your suffering. So take your health into your own hands.

I had an excellent experience with Professor Sharma and couldn’t recommend him more highly. From the first appointment, he was professional, calm, and extremely thorough. He took the time to listen carefully to my concerns, explained everything clearly in a way that was easy to understand, and made sure I felt comfortable asking questions. What stood out most was his attention to detail and genuine care. I never felt rushed, and the consultation felt very thoughtful and patient-focused. The tests and results were explained clearly, and I left the appointment feeling reassured and confident in the treatment plan. It’s rare to find a specialist who combines such strong expertise with excellent bedside manner. If you’re looking for a cardiologist who is knowledgeable, approachable, and truly invested in their patients, I would highly recommend Professor Sharma.

I have been a patient of Dr. Paneesha’s for around six months now. Being diagnosed with my condition, I knew that it was going to be a long road and a tough battle to good health. Dr. Paneesha’s reputation preceded him and upon meeting him he assured me that I was in good hands, and he definitely kept his promise. He is such a thorough, caring and attentive person. Always greeting me with a smile along with a joke or two, easing the tension in the room. Whether it’s good or not so good news, his delivery is always honest and always impeccable. Now, I am on the other side of treatment and I’ve just received the most amazing news regarding my health, and I am so happy he was guiding me through my journey. Thank you Dr. Paneesha.

I cannot recommend Mr Nitesh Patel enough; I am so incredibly grateful for the care I received. From the very first consultation, I felt I was in the best possible hands. He took the time to explain every detail of my surgery, answering all my questions with incredible depth and patience. His attentive nature and kindness completely eased my anxieties, and he was always there to provide reassurance exactly when I needed it. The pre-care was thorough, and the aftercare has been just as supportive. Most importantly, the results have been life-changing—I can hear so much better already, even so soon after the procedure. I truly appreciate his expertise and the genuine compassion he shows his patients.

Welcoming and helpful. Only one lift was working and the remaining one was noisy and slow but there was a notice advising of this. The coffee machine in wait area was out of order Reception staff were kind and helpful but sometimes difficult to understand accent. One set of chairs in a sub waiting area was under a shelf which meant I knocked my head. Appeared clean and efficient and was quiet on day of my visit. Preoperative bloods were done straight after consultation which is very good and in fact results appeared next day. That's good service. Overall allowing for things that happen a positive experience.

Apart from the appointment running about 30 minutes late everything was fine. Mr Humza Malik was very professional and courteous. From the minute I walked into the room he greeted me with kindness. He explained at great length what the operation entailed. He also gave me worse case scenarios so I was aware of exactly what to expect. That gave me great confidence. He asked if I had any concerns or fears which gave me a lot of reassurance that I was in safe hands. I also appreciate the fact that he thought it was important to meet his patients prior to their operation which made me feel relaxed.

My recent visit to the Fortius Clinic for removal of stitches and a post operative assessment was short, on time and to the point. On arrival, as always for previous appointments, the reception staff were briefed and I was immediately sent to the correct location, waiting time in a comfortable environment was minimal before being called in to see my surgeon, Mr Houlihan-Burne. who took the time to answer a few questions. and assure me that should there be any future queries or worries, he & his staff were always available. Many thanks

I had an outstanding experience at St. Peter's Andrology. The staff were incredibly friendly, and Professor David Ralph was exceptionally understanding throughout the entire process. From the initial consultation to the surgery, I felt I was in safe hands with their professionalism. After the surgery, they recommended an excellent IVF clinic, which has since helped us welcome our beautiful twin girls. I'm truly grateful for the care and support we received!

From my GP referral to my initial appointment it was less then 2 weeks. Before surgery I had 3 post operation assessments. The operation was completed as a day admission. I was kept full informed and treated with kindness and respect by all the staff. Mr Bhardwaj saw me on the morning before the operation and again later after it had been completed. Again, I was kept fully informed about my condition.

The clinic is easy to find, just off the motorway. I was made a cup of tea when I arrived. The doctor was very pleasant and patient whilst I listed my many and confusing health symptoms. I felt listened to and understood. It was so good to have the time to elaborate in a way that you cannot in a traditional doctor appointment. think we have a plan going forward which will help.
