About Mr Ravi Ray
Mr Ravi Ray completed his undergraduate studies in 2001 and then trained in London and the South East of England. He is currently a consultant at Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals since April 2015 and offers a thorough upper limb service. During his training, he obtained a fellowship in upper limb surgery from Southampton University Hospital and Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals. Additionally, he also holds a Diploma in the field of Sports Medicine and is working towards a Masters in Clinical Education based at King's College in London. With a keen interest in sports medicine, he is looking after amateur boxers as an accredited England Boxing Doctor and professional rugby players at the London Irish Rugby Football Club.
His practice involves the latest techniques in keyhole and open surgery and he keeps himself updated through regular national and international meetings, conferences and case discussions with colleagues. A very enthusiastic medical educator, Mr Ray is highly active in national recruitment of junior doctors into Orthopaedics. He regularly scrutinises his own practice through auditing and has written many pieces of research, presenting some of this internationally.
He finds the opportunity to look after patients in his clinic very rewarding and he is a very approachable and kind doctor. Mr Ray also has an excellent working relationship with the physiotherapy team.

Mr Ray i can only describe as one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is just a joy to talk to. He is always happy and meets you with the biggest smile. He takes time to explain everything and discusses things with you without using medical terms that I wouldn't understand and when he does use medical dialogue he will then explain what it means. He is just the ultimate nice man and is a real credit to the medical profession.
I saw Mr Ray in early June as I had torn my rotator cuff in my right shoulder. Mr Ray was very honest with me and advised that generally he would not contemplate this type of surgery in someone over 65, but due to my fitness he would operate. I went in day surgery around 2 weeks later. I have seen Mr Ray twice since the op. He was very pleased with my progress, and did advise that I may not get 100% movement due to my age but overall he was very pleased and discharged me into the care of physio. He has left the door open in case u gave any problems.

Dr Ray was very helpful during the consultation. His calm and friendly approach really help me feel less nervous. My injury was outside his field and he still helped and supported the necessary treatment. Helped me improve my injury. I would certainly recommend him to any of my friends and family.
