Mr. Edward Massa is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Essex, specialising in hip and knee pathologies. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Malta Medical School in 2006 and later moved to the UK in 2008 to further his career in orthopaedic surgery.
Mr. Massa became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and completed his basic surgical training in 2012. During this period, he also pursued a Masters in Musculoskeletal Sciences at University College London (UCL).
Mr. Massa continued to advance his expertise through higher specialist training on the South East London Rotation, resulting in the successful attainment of fellowship status from the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2019. He further honed his skills during two years of fellowship training at prestigious institutions including the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and Guys & St Thomas' Hospital in London.
His clinical focus lies in young adult hip pathology, including conditions such as Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and hip dysplasia. His expertise extends to the management of these conditions through various surgical interventions including hip arthroscopy and Periacetabular osteotomies (PAO). Additionally, Mr. Massa is adept in performing primary hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as complex primary and revision hip surgeries.
Apart from his clinical practice, Mr. Massa is committed to medical education and has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education in 2021. He actively engages in teaching and mentoring aspiring orthopaedic surgeons.

From my very first appointment with Mr Massa he completely put me at ease. He was very thorough and explained all the options available to me and possible outcomes. I am 9 weeks post op now and am enjoying better pain free mobility.

Mr Massa is a special surgeon and doctor. From the first appointment, to surgery to the outpatient appointment at which I was discharged I was at ease. He explained options for treatment clearly prior to the decision for surgery, a hip replacement. Whilst in hospital for surgery he again explained what was involved clearly ( including the preferred anaesthetic choices). His bedside manner was friendly and put me at ease, when a little nervous. The operation went as planned and my discharge was within a couple of days of surgery. This was when he, and I were happy about going home. Mr Massa's professional attention and individual personal attention is wonderful. I would thoroughly recommend him.

Mr Massa is very knowledgeable, takes time to answer questions, explains things is easy to understand terms and makes sure you feel reassured before ending the appointment. I’ve been extremely happy with his care and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to friends or family.

Doctor Massa is a wonderful kind caring man, he took care of me from day 1.He took the time to answer all my questions and take any worries I had away. If any one has the unfortunate thing happen and they need a Hip replacement I'd certainly recommend going to him .
