About Mr Christopher Brew

Mr. Christopher Brew is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Hip and Knee surgery. He was appointed at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2011 and also works as part of a private group of specialist hip and knee surgeons carrying out private treatment at The Yorkshire Clinic, Bingley. Mr. Brew maintains a busy practice including a full trauma commitment with an interest in periprosthetic fracture management and complex acetabular reconstruction using personalised 3D printed implants.

Mr. Brew studied Medicine at St Andrews University and the University of Manchester, completing his specialist Orthopaedic training in Yorkshire, going on to complete two Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Fellowships, one national (Leeds) and one international (Brisbane, Australia), gaining extensive experience in revision (re-do) surgery and in computer-aided knee surgery. Following the award of multiple competitive Research Fellowships (ARC Research Fellowship, Action Research and Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship), Mr. Brew completed an extensive period of research into osteoarthritis, improving the understanding its causes. Mr. Brew continues his interest outside of his clinical work in teaching both medical students and junior doctors and is a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for several junior doctors in training and teaches on local and national courses. He is also the Elective Orthopaedic Speciality lead at the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust with an interest in improving safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in theatres.

My resent visit was my 12 month post operation. Having the hip replacement in September 2025 was one of the best things I have done. My recovery was 5 weeks then I was able to go back to work with great ease. I have always been fortunate to lead a very active life and having this surgery had enabled me to get my life back, fir which I am do grateful to Mr Brew and his team!

I had a total hip replacement and am now 8 weeks into my recovery. I am now able to walk without a stick and am getting back to doing all the normal things I want to do without the pain of arthritis in my hip. Being able to drive again has given me back my independence and freedom to get about. I'm now able to walk about a mile or so but I know that it will get easier to walk further over the coming weeks as I build up my fitness and continue with the exercises recommended by my physio. To anyone thinking about surgery while suffering hip pain I would suggest doing this sooner rather than later as it will only improve your outlook.

I am a 66 years old male and in June 2026 had my right hip replaced. The first 3 days were painful and uncomfortable, took the pain relief for roughly 7/10 days then didn’t need them, took regular walks and exercise with rest in the afternoon, at the end of week two I could walk without sticks, by week four I was driving again. Now at week eight been swimming and have full movement in the hip. If you are considering Dr Brew and his team I would recommend them 💯 % from one pain free happy patient who can now get on with life.
