About Dr David Annan
Dr David Annan is a Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with sub-specialist expertise in ENT/Head and Neck and Musculoskeletal Radiology. He graduated with Distinction from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and holds memberships with the Royal College of Physicians and Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists.
Dr Annan serves as the site lead for Head and Neck Radiology at Whipps Cross, where he employs a range of diagnostic and interventional techniques including ultrasound, CT, MRI, fine needle aspirations, core biopsies, and image-guided therapies. His clinical focus includes the assessment and treatment of thyroid, parathyroid, salivary gland, and soft tissue and joint conditions.
He is a core member of the Head and Neck Oncology, Endocrinology, and Pituitary Gland multidisciplinary teams, delivering weekly expert imaging reviews to support diagnosis and management of complex cases across the North East London region.
Dr Annan's training at institutions such as Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London Hospital has provided him with extensive experience in acute adult and paediatric radiology. In addition to his clinical roles, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Medical Education and is actively involved in registrar and medical student teaching, including the organisation of exam preparation sessions across London.

I recently visited Dr David with my son, and I was genuinely worried beforehand. We had noticed two small lumps, and as a parent it’s hard not to feel anxious in that situation. From the moment we arrived, Dr David put both me and my son at ease. During the examination, Dr David was calm, professional, and thorough. He explained everything clearly, took time to address my concerns, and answered all of my questions patiently. The advice given was excellent—practical, reassuring, and easy to understand. Most importantly, my son felt comfortable throughout the appointment, and the whole experience was handled with great care. Dr David also prepared the report for our GP promptly, which helped us feel supported and informed moving forward. Overall, we were very impressed by the professionalism, kindness, and efficiency shown during our visit. I have a lump on my back which has caused worry as it’s unusual. Dr Annan was very clear and very patient centred throughout the appointment in his introduction, allowing me to tell him what was happening after reading my appointment letter. He explained things clearly, giving clear next steps after my appointment. As the lump appears atypical, he made a further referral to ensure that it is fine, including my preference again for an open mri scan. This was the best medical appointment I’ve had in my life.
