In August 2025, due to the long delays at Luton and Dunstable, they offered for me to be seen as an NHS patient at One Stop (OSD) Clinic at Hemel Hempstead, where I was seen by Dr Mittel. Following a consultation, he advised that I be referred back to L&D for a hysterectomy (he could not do overnight procedures at his clinic) and prescribed Ryeqo, a medication that suppresses ovarian function and includes HRT. However, I was not provided with a NHS prescription for Ryeqo, as Dr Mittel did not have the necessary NHS prescription pad and advised that it must come from an NHS consultant. I have since discovered that my GP is unable to prescribe Ryeqo and that this must indeed be handled by a hospital consultant. I am unable to afford this medication privately, as it costs approximately £100 per month. With no consultant to prescribe the medication on the NHS, I am therefore left without treatment and unclear as to whether I am even on the waiting list for a hysterectomy. To add to my distress, my interactions with Dr Mittel have been upsetting. During our initial consultation, when I asked about potential side effects of Ryeqo, he responded inappropriately by laughing and comparing the risks to getting on a bus or plane. He failed to explain that only a consultant could prescribe the medication on the NHS, and I had to research this information myself. He also failed to talk me through any of the potential side effects which again I have now researched myself. At a subsequent appointment for a hysteroscopy, when I attempted to raise my concerns about still not being able to get the NHS Ryeqo prescription (as advised by his secretary), he dismissed the issue, saying it was not the right time to discuss it. Instead, he began venting his frustrations about NHS inefficiencies and his personal issues with parking as a consultant. This unprofessional and inappropriate behaviour left me extremely upset and in tears just prior to undergoing the procedure. Although he later apologised, stating he was “stressed,” this is not the level of care I expect or deserve as a patient and I wonder if I was his private patient as opposed to an NHS patient his manner would have been the same.

I had a really positive and pleasant experience with the radiographers. There were two of them and they were both very friendly, helpful, patient, careful, knowledgeable and extremely professional. I was very happy with their care. What I was not happy about was the service from the MRI/Scan receptionists, this is the second time I’ve done a scan and each time the receptionists were not friendly, they we’re extremely direct showing no empathy and welcoming presence. They seemed busy with the conversation they were having with each other so I have found on both occasions their service has been very poor. The first time I assumed it was a one off but after experiencing it for the second time I feel it’s necessary to provide the feedback so something can be done about it.

My follow-up appointment showed that the bilateral cataract operations on 3rd Sept had a better than expected result. My distance vision has improved so much that my driving glassss actually reduced the clarity. My near signt is improving by the day, proved by being able to read the time print here! I just may not need glassss. As for the colours: wow! They are now so viberant. The daglow hue of gas will wow me for a very long time. My deepest thank you to Mr Ratnarajan, Sally and everyone else who made this possible for me and so many others. I could write so much more, that actual operation, so slick, no pain just in awe of the whole proceedure, the hospital, staff, unexpected welcome light meal .. etc. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

I arrived early as I had been unsure of the volume of traffic at that time of day. I saw my consultant at the time that I had expected to see her. The consultation was exactly as I would have expected from previous visits...she was kind and polite and every inch a professional. She was clear in her explanations, asked my views on the treatment and answered every question clearly. The procedure required that I remained on site for a while and, when it became necessary, she saw me again to revisit the treatment plan. A totally helpful experience and I have no reservations in recommending both the Nuffield and my consultant to friends and family.

Car parking can be a problem. There are some local side streets with the odd space or Sainsbury is about a 20 minute walk, think you get about 3 hours. I had my operation on a Saturday and the place seemed very quiet and peaceful, one member of staff said it's more chaotic in the week. Parking was easy at 7.30am on Saturday but I had been dropped off anyway. There are buses that stop nearby from Macclesfield bus station but I haven't tried them. It's lovely to have your own room, particularly if you're a very sensitive person. The staff on the whole treat you with respect.

I made an an appointment with Dr Ansari from the Spire hospital site within a few days of enquiry . As my reason was somewhat compicated I sent him an email to explain the circunstances to which he replied the same day. He arranged the required test within a couple of days of the consultation and forwarded the results on the same day. I have never experienced such good service before and it was a pleasure to meet Dr Ansari who made me feel comfortable and relaxed on both occasions. He was clear in his explanations which removed a level of stress on my part.

Minimal waiting time before my appointment. Mr Patel delivered a clear and graphic explanation of the degeneration of my ankle joint, the mechanics of what was happening when I moved my foot and my options for treatment. I was particularly interested in the pros and cons of the two possible surgical procedures and my responsibilities to optimise the healing process. In conclusion of the consultation Mr Patel asked me if I had any questions; I had none as he had covered everything and now, writing this eight hours later, I still don't have any questions.

The hospital staff were both friendly and professional, creating a very comfortable environment. My room was clean and well-appointed, and everything was explained to me clearly throughout the process. I felt reassured by the thorough checks carried out before and after the surgery. The catering staff were also very helpful and attentive. The entire process was efficient, with regular visits from staff to check on my recovery. I also received a follow-up call from Mr. Sian the next day to check on my condition, which I greatly appreciated.

Excellent service from all staff but especially My Gouda. This gentleman listened to my concerns about the whole surgery and worked with me to keep me calm during the appointments and surgery. I cannot tell you how nervous I had become. He informed me of what was going to happen and the work I needed to do to get back to normal again. My experience was amazing, Dr Lowe and all of his staff were super amazing, would 100% trust everyone again. He was very reassuring and put me at ease despite my slight nervousness. He explained everything in such a way that I knew what was going to happen, and in a way that i understood. We were anxious about our daughter Abigail going under anaesthetic but put completely at ease by the friendly and professional team. Mr Moor gave a detailed description of the procedure and we particularly liked that our daughter was given the choice of IV or gas administration of anaesthesia. Nurse Jen provided exceptional care and was kind and compassionate throughout. Aftercare advice on discharge was very thorough. The ward was spotlessly clean and food very good.

I loved the light banter before the procedure and the 'running commentary' during, and found it relaxing and reassuring. He is clearly very experienced and I was given choices all the way through, with full information to help me make decisions. I'd definitely recommend him to others (and indeed have already done so).

The procedure I have just had is a life saver for me with Meniere's and Vestibular Migraine and enables me to lead a normal life.
