I met with Dr Agathou recently to discuss a shoulder injury and she was absolutely fantastic: compassionate and empathetic, knowledgeable and authoritative. As someone who trains regularly, I was especially impressed by her evident deep expertise in and understanding of an active lifestyle and how different forms of exercise can contribute to physical setbacks. After exploring in depth my pain triggers and schedule and lifestyle factors, she gave me a crystal-clear understanding of what the issues might be and what corresponding treatment and rehab' looked like in each case. I left very satisfied and clear on my next steps and the admin' / aftercare around registration, making an appointment and receiving a specialist referral from Doctor Claire directly and the practice team was also very smooth and efficient. Highly highly recommended.
Dr. Agathou was extremely thorough during my visit. She managed to sift through my long, rather complex medical history in conversation and deliver a very detailed, accurate clinical summary. Dr. Agathou was warm, understanding, and very knowledgeable. Since my appointment, she and her Secretary, Abdulaziz, also worked hard to ensure that I have critical medication, despite supply constraints. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Agathou.
Fantastic services from Dr Claire Agathou. I would very much recommend to my friends, family and everyone. Dr Agathou was very warm, friendly, compassionate and understanding of my issue. She acted very quickly and issued the letter for me to see a specialist within less than an hour!
Dr Agathou is a kind and caring professional who makes you feel heard and seen. She takes upmost care to get to the bottom of any problem that you go to her for, making sure she fully understands what it is you are going through in order to inform you of any next steps you may need to take. Talking to her was a relief after years of being dismissed by others. I strongly recommend her to anyone. Thank you so much.
Dr Agathou is an outstanding experienced practitioner and is always very professional, a good empathetic listener with first rate diagnostic skills. She always goes the extra mile for her patients. She explains everything in a clear, concise and confident manner which is very reassuring. She refers for further tests if she feels they are required and is very thorough. Dr Agathou diagnosed my acute appendicitis from a physical examination a while back, despite several doctors including those in A & E at a leading NHS hospital, insisting I did not have it. They needed a CT scan to confirm what she had spotted easily! I would highly recommend her and have indeed done so to family and colleagues.
Having been concerned about my rapid heart rate whilst exercising, I consulted Dr. Agathou in the very first instance. She immediately organised cardiology investigations and referred me urgently to a Cardiologist, who reviewed both myself and also flagged a need for my brother to also be seen quickly (given the potential hereditary nature of the issue). I was so grateful for her sense of urgency, attention to detail and sensitive approach. I have immense trust in her, and feel very safe under her care.
If you need a GP to give you an accurate diagnosis and point you in the right direction to the best Consultants, Dr Agathou ticks all the boxes and some. For over 10 years both my husband and I have been both privileged and blessed to have the benefit of Dr Agathou’s expertise, in a private capacity, and she has never been wrong once. As we have aged unfortunately health issues have become the norm rather than the exception and the worry and fear that this inevitably brings means waiting for the NHS, as excellent as they are, does not lend itself to a quick diagnosis and treatment. Dr Agathou’s extensive knowledge, calm and reassuring manner together with her attention to detail and amazing empathy has provided us with the confidence and reassurances we have so desperately needed during some very challenging times. When further more specialist investigations have been required Dr Agathou has referred us to the relevant Consultants and hospitals and always follows up with both us and them. We could not wish for a better and more dedicated GP than Dr Agathou. Thank you so much.
I cannot sing Dr Agathou’s praises high enough. Thanks to her quick action and providing me with access to my wonderful surgeon, Mr Danilo Miskovic I recently celebrated my 94th birthday. After being sent home by the NHS in early December, 2023 for palliative care as apparently the A&E consultant considered at my then age of 92 my perforated bowel and cancerous tumour attached was not worth operating on, Dr Agathou, who has treated me privately for several years, had arranged at the request of my daughter, to obtain a second opinion privately. Within less than 24 hours I had been transferred by private ambulance to the most excellent Wellington Hospital in St John’s Wood where I had the privilege of being seen by the amazing Mr Miskovic. Five days later I underwent major surgery where Mr Miskovic not only removed the cancerous tumour together with 34 lymph nodes, thankfully all benign, but he had repaired my perforated bowel without the need for a stoma being fitted! Had it not been for the quick action of Dr Agathou and her access to such excellent medical professionals and facilities I have no doubt that I would not be alive today. Dr Agathou is quite simply amazing and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity of inviting her to my 100th birthday party in 6 years time, a mile stone that I am confident I will reach thanks to Dr Agathou’s ongoing care and guidance. There truly are no words than can properly express my gratitude and immense admiration for this wonderful lady.
Dr Agathou is a senior respected GP, and alongside her NHS work is a senior partner in the A-Z General Practice at the Wellington Hospital in St Johns Wood, where she delivers a comprehensive holistic practice focussed on patients needs.
