I first saw Professor Mokbel after an initial biopsy was done and I was awaiting results from the NHS. And I am so glad I did. He was able to tell me upon examination that the lump in my lymph node was most likely cancerous. From then on everything moved very quickly with various scans and a referral to an incredible oncologist (Professor Mokbel works with a world class team). 7 months on and I have had a complete response. My initial reaction was to have a double mastectomy but Professor Mokbel explained that in my particular case, a minimally invasive surgery would result in a better outcome. His recommendations are always data driven and backed by the latest research. I had a wide local excision and an axillary lymph node dissection which only required the removal of the sentinel lymph node. I had very little pain from the surgery and 2 weeks out I have great mobility in my arm. There is also no noticeable unevenness in my breasts, if anything they look more even post surgery! I feel very lucky to have been under the care of Professor Mokbel and his team at LBI (in particular his specialist nurse Oonagh). I really couldn't have been in better hands.

I have been diagnosed during a routine check up by another surgeon - the experience was to say the least very traumatic the way the diagnosis was handled and communicated to me, so I knew I needed to find another surgeon who could reassure me that I will be okay. Friends recommended I see Prof Mokbel. From the first consultation I knew I am finally in good hands and found surgeon who is not only technically brilliant but also cares about his patients. After consultation I needed to do some scans and Prof Mokbel personally checked on me how my first ultrasound went at the LBI and was generally very positive and caring the way he communicated and explained my diagnosis and the way forward. I am still relatively young and naturally was very anxious as to how my breast is going to look like after mastectomy as well as scarring. I did not know what to expect and was very positively surprised how natural my “new” breast looked and felt. I am still undergoing post surgery care with Prof as only three weeks post surgery and all of his team is extremely supportive and caring. I can highly recommend Prof Mokbel to anyone who was recently diagnosed and is not sure yet what surgeon to choose. As far as I am aware there is no other surgeon in london who is confident enough to do mastectomy through areola incision with minimal scaring and such amazing cosmetic result! Thank you Prof Mokbel and your brilliant and caring nursing team for being there for me!
