Mr Achal Goyal

Mr Achal Goyal is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising exclusively in Foot and Ankle Surgery. His NHS Practice is located in the foot and ankle unit at Southend University Hospital, Mid and South Essex NHS Trust. He also sees private patients at Spire Wellesley Hospital, Spire London East Hospital and Nuffield Health North Staffordshire Hospital.

Mr Goyal completed his medical degree at North Maharashtra University, India in 1997 followed by his extensive training in the East Midlands region, gaining valuable experience in tertiary specialist centres and district general hospitals. He later was awarded his Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics from the Royal College of Surgeons.

Mr Goyal later pursued specialised fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery under the guidance of Mr Sunil Dhar, a past president of the British Foot and Ankle Society. Additionally, he completed a diabetic foot fellowship where he gained expertise in the treatment of diabetic foot patients, including Charcot joint reconstruction.

Mr Goyal was first appointed as a consultant in 2020 at Stoke on Trent Major Trauma Centre where he focused on complex foot and ankle cases. He has expertise in bunion correction, foot and ankle arthritis, sports injuries, ankle arthroplasty, and ankle fusion ingrowing toenail, foot and ankle arthroscopy, corrective fusion surgery for significant toes, ankle, hindfoot, and midfoot. He also has expertise in Achilles tendon surgery, tendon transfer surgery, total ankle replacement, and big toe replacement surgery.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Goyal is a dedicated researcher and has presented his work at national and international society meetings. He remains an active member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).
