Fantastic staff care and treatment

Staying at Abington house has given me the break from everyday life I needed to allow me to seek the route causes of my relapses. The staff were all approachable kind, and good fun. Amazing food is provided by the lovely kitchen staff which helped keep us all energized each day. It’s been an amazing experience. I am grateful for all of the help I’ve recieved.

The staff have been amazing, all very compassionate, empathic & experienced, my therapist Costa has helped guide me and the work we have done has been incredible, I really appreciate this place and the journey I’ve had here, the journey is just beginning, but I have been given the tools to continue my life in recovery with strength and resilience, I really feel like I’ve been given a new lease of life and a second change to be the best version of myself for me and my family! Thank you Abbington house!!

I had a very positive experience at Abingdon House. I’ve attended four treatment centres, and what made this one unique was that every member of staff had personal experience of recovery. That meant that even if your therapist had gone home for the day, or you needed support outside of a scheduled session, there was always someone available who genuinely understood what you were going through because they’d lived it themselves. Some of the staff were also former residents of Abingdon House, so they understood not only addiction and recovery, but the challenges of being in rehab itself. That level of empathy made a real difference. Abingdon House follows the Cocaine Anonymous (CA) programme, which, in my experience, places a particularly strong emphasis on the Big Book. Although I’ve attended other 12-step treatment centres, I heard and understood the programme in a very different way here. The way the Big Book was taught and applied felt much more practical and meaningful. I also integrated with other residents very quickly. The staff weren’t afraid to challenge you when it was needed, but it never felt forceful or confrontational. Instead, there was a real emphasis on helping you find your own path through recovery. Perhaps my biggest takeaway was how personalised the treatment felt. It never seemed like everyone was being put through the same process. Instead, each person’s recovery was tailored to where they were, what they needed, and how they could best engage with the work. That individual approach made the treatment feel both supportive and effective.
