Professor Omar Faiz

Professor Faiz has been exceptional throughout our daughter's care. We met him in January 2024 to explore the possibility for her stoma to be reversed (she had emergency surgery to remove her colon at another hospital the previous year aged just 20). Professor Faiz is clearly preeminent in his field, he is also patient, kind and has the most wonderful bedside manner. He is a true professional and wanted to take time to ensure our daughter had the best possible chance for success. She underwent numerous tests to assess if she was a viable candidate for either J-Pouch or IRA surgery. In August 2024 Professor Faiz performed an IRA and it couldn't have gone better, internally it's perfect and externally neat as a pin. Though her colitis is still lingering (we knew this was a risk and one she felt worth taking) Professor Faiz is still very much involved in her care, together with a gastroenterologist colleague. We truly believe the direction of her life (and ours) was positively impacted when Professor Faiz was recommended to us and we are very grateful to him, and his team for looking after us so well.

I recently had a full right hip replacement. It is the first time I have undergone surgery so was obviously slightly apprehensive. From the initial meeting with Mr Jafri everything was explained comprehensively and my concerns were listened to and answered in a manner that left me feeling more confident. The pre surgery admissions team were all friendly and efficient and went out of their way to make me comfortable and took my fear of needles into account. The surgery team were very friendly ,supportive and professional. The operation went smoothly and the aftercare was excellent, from pain management to food and chat. The pain after surgery was a lot less than I had been experiencing with my arthritic hip so I was delighted. The same level of care was extended through recovery and physio and 8 weeks later I'm mobile and moving comfortably. Cannot fault the whole experience from start to finish.

I was seen by Dr Heggy and a lovely staff nurse Charlotte. Dr Heggy was fantastic he actually listened to me. He listened to exactly how I was and had been feeling. I'd been told by another Dr that there was nothing that could be done so I had to see someone for pain management. I'm in pain everyday and just wanted a resolution or at least pin point what could be wrong. Dr Heggy really made me feel heard and suggested other things before we gave up and just give me medication for my pain. Nurse Charlotte was fantastic. While Dr Heggy was looking things up and trying to find other options Charlotte spoke to me like an actual human. So thank you to Dr Heggy and nurse Charlotte for your time and patience with me. It's very much appreciated

I arrived in advance of my outpatient appointment and was greeted by a friendly member of reception staff. My Consultant came to meet me at the exact time of my appointment and kindly brought me to the X-ray department, enquiring as to how I had been since the surgery. He again came to bring me to the consultation room where I was treated warmly, professionally and shown the X-ray. The examination was gentle, the good progress made discussed and the next stage of the treatment plan was explained. Advice was given on my rehabilitation and when I would be seen again.

I recently was cared for by Mr. Athanasiou at The Brighton Nuffield. Mr. Athanasiou has a personable manner and I instantly felt calm and relaxed when I met him which was at a worrying time. He asked me my concerns, gave his opinion and plan for my care in simple terms which put me at my ease. He and his administrative support worked so very hard to fit my case in which I am so appreciative of. During my stay in hospital, he came to see me several times, which was very reassuring. Mr Tudor Jones was very clear and concise, he made the whole process easy for me. I have had a long, drawn out history of Achilles pain and he reassured me that the procedure would go to plan and I would be on the road to recovery soon despite the long history. So far so good, starting into a rehab block now and I have had a 6 week follow up with Mr Jones who was very accomodating to have this for me on zoom as I live in Ireland which saved me a trip! Would highly recommend.
