About Mr Jonathan Hughes
Mr Jonathan Hughes is a leading Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat / Head and Neck / Thyroid surgeon, situated at the University College London Hospitals and Royal Free London NHS trusts since 2015. He also has a private practice in North London and the Chilterns.
Mr Hughes began his medical training at the University of Bristol, he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery. Following his graduation, he then went on to study plastic surgery, neurosurgery, and general surgery before starting his ENT training. During his specialisation, he completed higher surgical training at centres of excellence around London and was later awarded a research fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS). In this fellowship he studied how viral gene therapy could be used as a treatment for cancer, he was later awarded a PhD in 2013 for his work. Prior to his current role, Mr Hughes was based at Oxford University Hospitals.
Furthermore, Mr Hughes later then went on to take 2 travelling fellowships to renowned centres for excellence in the USA. During these fellowships, he gained indispensable knowledge on the latest minimally invasive techniques. Additionally, he has also completed 2 RCS accredited fellowships one examining the management of benign and malignant tumours of the head and neck, and the other on the management of the airway, voice and swallowing disorders.
Mr Hughes has an extensive research history with many peer-reviewed articles published, his academic success has allowed him to offer the best evidence-based treatments available. He is currently a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and ENT-UK.

Dr Hughes and The Chiltern Hospital provided the most professional service and care from my initial consultation, through my surgery and aftercare. From my initial consultation to my final (post surgery) took roughly 4 to 5 months. All members of staff were extremely polite and helpful and facilities were always clean.
