Mr Shahab Khan is a kind, caring, and professional specialist. He explains all procedures clearly, making patients feel safe and confident. His surgical skill leads to minimal scarring and excellent recovery from operations like parathyroidectomy. Patients commend his effective treatment for complex parathyroid disease.
I required a parathyroidectomy and Mr Khan was recommended as an expert in the procedure. I consulted him initially as a private patient and asked to be treated as an NHS patient and he agreed to this arrangement. He explained the procedure and his practice very clearly. I was given an indication of the time frame with the understanding that more urgent cases would be placed ahead of me in the queue. This turned out to be the case but Mr Khan responded to my deteriorating condition and personal/family needs. On the day of my operation I met Mr Khan before I was anaesthetised and again before I was discharged. He was able to tell me, with evidence, that the operation was successful. He checked the wound, applied a discreet dressing and gave me clear instructions for aftercare and follow-up blood tests. The instructions were reinforced in writing - useful because I was still a little unfocussed and had to refer to it over the following days. I received a follow-up appointment for six weeks following my surgery, but Mr Khan made an unscheduled telephone call after less than three weeks to check on my progress. His manner goes beyond duty and requirement and demonstrates sincere care for his patients; I feel very well looked after. I am not sure whether it is appropriate for this review but I would like to say a word about my wider experience at the Churchill Hospital. I cannot fault my care at any level. I was treated with skill and professionalism by everyone I encountered, but beyond that there was clear kindness and respect throughout my stay. I have been very fortuna...
Read moreAfter an initial phone with Mr Khan in June, he instantly gave us hope that he could help with my diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism. With his professional and reassuring manner we felt confident we had made the right decision for referral into his care and could finally see light at the end of what has felt like a very long and dark tunnel. On the day of surgery, he made us feel completely at ease saying he had seen something on my scan that Bedford hospital hadn't which was a massive relief. I can not recommend Mr Khan enough!
The whole process with Dr Khan was seamless, he quikly assessed my need and was really clear on what he was going to do and the operation day and follow up was exemplary
I know Dr Khan couple of years. About my condition suffering with parathyroid disease I a couldn't see a solution and cant see my future. Luckily the swindon hospital was offering a opportunity to see Dr Khan about my illness.... That was the best day of my life . I was worried about what will happen with me. How does this going to affect my kids, my workplace etc.... After I met with Dr Khan and he explained what could happen if I refuse the treatment and what he can offer . He gave me specific details . I knew i nee to listen on him and he will do his best . I really happy with his work his honesty and his trust. He always was there for me and really cared about my health ,about my well being . I never known a most amazing Dr like Dr Khan. Really important is he knows what he is doing..... he does give his promise and his word. I feel much better after my operations and my results so far so good . Massive relief for me and massive Thank you for Dr Khan for I can be who I was long time ago and no more suffer and defo no more pain .... Definitely recommend Dr Khan . Its a shame I wont see him after when will be discharge. I wish him a even more successful future and Definitely deserve best from everything. Thank you again Zuzana
The kindest, caring man I’ve ever met. No question was too stupid, he explained everything that it was easy to understand and remember. And absolute master in his field I wish more surgeons were like Mr Khan.
What a lovely man. Approachable, friendly, and very clear in his explanations both before and after my procedure. I felt in very safe hands with Mr Khan and his team.
Mr Khan exuded a reassuring and professional manner which was a great help in giving me confidence that the outcome would be successful. He took time to explain the procedure in detail and the recovery pathway subsequent to the operation. I would be very happy to recommend Mr Khan to anyone looking for his speciality.
Brilliant surgeon and consultant. His experience and knowledge meant that any anxieties on what is to happen during the procedure were taken away. Can't thank him enough really
Everything was excellent. I can highly recommend Mr. Khan, he’s the best!
With regard to my actual surgery experience it was absolutely excellent. I met the Anaesthetist and Mr Khan's Registrar before the surgery, both were kind, caring, professional, clear in their actions and discussions and answered clearly any questions I had. The nurses prior to the surgery were excellent, checked and confirmed information, were friendly, helpful (was one of the hottest days and they were so obliging with fans and moving us so we were kept cooler whilst we waited for surgery). Everyone was just so kind and amazing. My surgery was performed by Mr Khan and his team, which I understand now to have been trickier than usual due to previous kidney removal scar tissue, but the surgery (and my recovery since) went really well. Mr Khan came to see me the following morning to talk through the surgery with me, he was so kind and caring. He wasn't in a rush to leave like you can sometimes feel, he gave me his time and made me feel completely at ease and that what I had gone through was really important to him too. I had a further conversation with him yesterday to go over the results and next stages for me, and some other things and he was so amazing, he really really listened and understood what I had to say, he has taken everything on board, and I really appreciated that from him. A very genuine, kind, helpful and caring Surgeon - thank you so much to Dr Khan (and the whole team) for doing my surgery and for just being so lovely, really meant a lot.
Great surgeon based at the Manor Hospital in Oxford. I send all my private endocrine surgery cases to him.
