A graduate of the University of Calcutta with multiple honours and gold medals, Dr. Ballav completed his medical training at centres of excellence in Cambridge, Glasgow, Kent, and Leeds.

Dr. Ballav's clinical and research interests encompass a broad range of endocrine and diabetes-related areas, including thyroid, calcium and bone metabolism, adrenal, and reproductive endocrinology, as well as cardio-metabolic risk management and diabetes technology. He has published widely in these fields and presented at leading national and international conferences, such as the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. He is also a co-author of the Diabetes and Endocrinology chapter in Medicine for MRCP.

Currently, Dr. Ballav serves at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, where he runs Type 1 and complex Type 2 diabetes clinics, an antenatal diabetes clinic, and general endocrine clinics. He is actively involved in advancing diabetes care through the use of technology, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to escalate treatment for Type 1 diabetes patients. He also participates in regional adrenal and pituitary multidisciplinary meetings and has contributed to guidelines on Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes management within Buckinghamshire.

Dr. Ballav has a commitment to medical education, having served as a Royal College Tutor and a lecturer for MRCP clinical courses in London. He has taught for the MSc Diabetes course in Leicester, and lectured undergraduates from Oxford University and the University of Buckingham Medical School. As the Training Programme Director for Internal Medicine at Thames Valley, he plays a vital role in shaping future specialists and is a member of the Specialty Advisory Committee of the Royal College of Physicians. His dedication to both clinical excellence and education makes him a respected leader in Endocrinology and Diabetes.
