Mr. Jibu Joseph is an esteemed Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in hip and knee joint replacements, including complex revision procedures and orthopaedic trauma. An award-winning surgeon with fellowship training, Mr. Joseph is dedicated to providing the highest standards of care, using a combination of well-established techniques and modern, cutting-edge treatments.
Mr. Joseph graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow and also holds an Honours degree in Sports Medicine. His training continued in the West of Scotland, where he completed both basic surgical and higher orthopaedic training. Notably, he received the prestigious Arthur Edward Burton Memorial Award for achieving the highest mark in Part I of the FRCS exam in 2012, later obtaining his FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2013.
Further honing his expertise, Mr. Joseph undertook a fellowship in complex hip and knee arthroplasty at the University of Wirral Hospitals NHS Trust, where he gained extensive experience in primary and revision hip and knee replacements. His passion for complex trauma led to additional fellowships at University Hospital Coventry and Warwick Major Trauma Centre, as well as a travelling fellowship to Tygerberg Hospital in South Africa, funded by awards from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the West of Scotland Orthopaedic Research Society.
Since 2015, Mr. Joseph has served as an NHS Consultant, initially at Royal Alexandra Hospital and now at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow. His practice focuses exclusively on hip and knee conditions, performing partial and total knee replacements, total hip replacements, and revision surgeries. His expertise extends to complex orthopaedic trauma, where he regularly manages intricate cases in dedicated trauma lists.
Mr. Joseph is an active member of professional societies, including the British Orthopaedic Association, British Hip Society, Orthopaedic Trauma Society, European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgeons, and the AO Foundation. He is involved in educational leadership as Faculty on several advanced courses and as Chair of courses like the Principles of Intra-medullary Nailing. He also contributes to the Orthopaedic Trauma Society’s education committee and represents orthopaedics on the National Scottish Trauma Audit Group (STAG) committee.
