When my BCC diagnosis was confirmed, it was very scary and I wondered how things would progress and what outcome could be achieved. The first stage was to research the options. The main one being to identify the best procedure and the best surgeon. MOHS surgery came out as the best option for success, in terms of reoccurrence and the overall cosmetic appearance. Dr Aslam topped the list to perform this surgery. The initial consultation with Dr Aslam proved I had made the right choice. From the very start I felt confident and reassured. On the day of the surgery I was naturally very nervous. However, Dr Aslam and his excellent team helped considerably to reduce any tension. The whole team, Lisa, Gina and Sheila made conversation throughout the surgery and as such it was possible to have a couple of laughs. Don’t be afraid about being awake. The results? Well I could not be more pleased. The outcome has exceeded my expectations and to say I am pleased is an understatement. I am genuinely thrilled. My second “follow up” appointment was today (3 weeks after surgery) and Dr Aslam is equally thrilled. I can’t finish this review without mentioning Claire, the very efficient and helpful secretary to Dr Aslam. Please be in no doubt that choosing Dr Aslam and his team will, in my opinion be the best choice you can make. Terese

I recently had bilateral cataract surgery. From start to finish the treatment I received was excellent. The patient liaison manager was really helpful, friendly, incredibly supportive and a welcome calming influence. I was amazed by the state of the art optical equipment that was available to ensure that my lenses were perfectly suited to the dimensions of my eyes and my prescription, as well as the care that the technicians took while taking the measurements. The optometrists I saw were caring and informative, ensuring that I knew about the different types of intra ocular lenses available and what I may expect from them. They carried out my eye tests with care and patience. The eye surgeon was incredibly experienced and very skilled, and carried out the procedure very efficiently with great care. Now, six weeks post-surgery, I am very grateful of the care I received and the quality and clarity of my lenses; both aspects easily surpassed all my expectations. I would highly recommend Freedom Vision, Chelmsford to anyone considering cataract surgery.

He was exactly what I wanted: a professional who could understand my situation, offer his expert opinion, and also involve me in deciding which path to follow. During this long and difficult period for me, I couldn't have hoped for anything better: he gave me hope again.

The physiotherapist seemed unconcerned by the pain I have been experiencing for nearly a year. He mentioned that I had full movement and so he was not concerned. He kept saying that he would not give me another steroid injection without acknowledging that I didn’t want one. He told me to do some exercises which he showed me how to do once and gave me no paperwork or YouTube link that might assist when I got home. I tried to ask how long I should wait before I made any further action and he said there is no more treatment. I felt like an inconvenience and wish I had gone somewhere else. I would never recommend anyone to see him again. He really made me feel small and insignificant.

Although this was my second hip replacement the experience was very different and unexpected. Mr Stott had explained that it was different but not really explained the different rehab. The physio I saw at Stride (the one recommended by Spire). Their understanding of the different reha was poor and essentially recommended a programme neither specific to the operation nor the individual. A really unique service in this country would e a closer tie between surgeon and physio and specialist physios who really understand which muscles cut where the inflammation likely to occur etc. This would gratly ease the patients mind and expectations

During each consultation the possible solutions were clearly explained which enabled me to make decisions with confidence. I initially had a terrible experience with another consultant and he reinstated my faith in getting treatment. Mr Kasem made sure all of my follow up appointments happened as quickly as possible, and 6 weeks after diagnosis I was having surgery.

I moved house before Christmas and during the process I lifted a piano (big mistake!), sofa, wardrobes, beds, washing machine etc. This resulted in severe pain in my lower back and left leg. 9/10 My Sonographer Rima Shah was fantastic, professional and informative. To improve the service i think it would be nice if a cardiologists could quickly glance/look over results and give a brief written note/summary of results/heart health. It is a shame that in order to get a cardiologists insight/reassurance I then have to rebook and pay for an additional appointment.

My appointment was exactly on time. Dr Ling was lovely, she listened to me and was reassuring. She treated me there and then and I was only there for around 15 minutes. No waiting. Excellent service. Just a note: there are major roadworks directly outside the hospital so give an extra 10 minutes on your journey time when travelling to an appointment.
