Dr Graham Cole is a Consultant Cardiologist based at the world-famous Hammersmith Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He practises privately at the Lodon Heart Practice, part of HCA Healthcare UK.
He has broad expertise in assessing patients with shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, collapses and ankle swelling. He also has expertise in assessing cardiovascular risk, and assessing patients needing surgery to minimise their risk.
He is a sub-specialist in cardiac imaging, being extensively trained and accredited in using modern techniques (echo, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT) to investigate patients painlessly and non-invasively. He has additional expertise in heart failure.
Graham qualified from Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge University in 2005, achieving a First Class Honours degree in Natural Sciences. He went on to achieve the very unusual feat of Distinctions in every area of his final medical examinations at Cambridge University. He subsequently completed the Hammersmith medical rotation as a junior doctor followed by a further decade of specialist cardiology training in the prestigious North-West Thames rotation. This included a four year fellowship in cardiac MRI at the world-leading Heart Hospital Imaging Centre under Prof James Moon, the London CT fellowship and a PhD in echocardiography.
He has a track record of publishing research that matters to patients. Highlights include developing ways to help patients make individualised decisions about the pros and cons of different treatments, and developing imaging techniques to be able to make precise diagnoses and know when a patient's condition has changed. He has recently co-led a large study using advanced MRI scanning to identify the types of cardiac damage arising following COVID-19 infection and regularly sees and evaluates patients who have chest pain, shortness of breath or palpitations following COVID-19.
Patients can be assured he has a meticulous approach to making sure they receive the best treatment based on good evidence - he has previously spotlighted and successfully campaigned to change potentially harmful clinical guidelines used by thousands of doctors that were based on unreliable research.
He prides himself on a caring but clear approach, with explanations and advice tailored carefully to individual patients.

I enjoyed my visits to Dr Cole, who understands the human elements of medicine, which is a rare quality. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
Dr Cole was incredibly helpful. His advice was clear and precise and his manner was serious but reassuring.
The care I have received from Dr Cole has been outstanding. He thoroughly assessed my recent symptoms, scan results and investigations to reach clear and accurate diagnoses. He took the time to carefully explain my conditions to me, discuss the available options, and formulate a treatment plan I am happy with. Dr Cole communicates with empathy and a kind, reassuring manner that put me at ease during what was a worrying time. I would also like to mention Dr Cole’s PA, Tiegan, who is always friendly, understanding, easy to reach and highly efficient. She ensured that all clinic letters and scan reports were prepared and sent promptly, providing an excellent level of support throughout.
As a patient, prepare before the appointment to get the most out of it.
Excellent up-to-date and very sensible advice. Dr Cole, inspires confidence and was happy to explore all options with me and go through each of these logically. He doesn’t advise tests for the sake of it unless they will alter the management plan. So very practical and helpful.
Very emphatic, excellent listener and explained every thing clearly. I felt ten times more relaxed very quickly.
My recent consultation was excellent.He listened patiently while I slowly described my condition,given my cognitive impairment due to a previous stroke…He then made a sketch of my heart to illustrate clearly what was happening so I could understand.I thank the good Lord for meeting Dr Cole;
As I've said before, I really appreciate Dr Cole's kind and thoughtful approach and the way in which he makes me feel heard and a part of a team. My heart disease diagnosis was a horrible shock and he has been incredibly helpful in addressing my concerns.
Dr Cole was amazing from start to finish. Listened to my concerns, made me feel at ease and explained everything perfectly.
