Overview
Dr Ankur Gulati is a highly experienced consultant cardiologist. His NHS practice is established at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and Lewisham Greenwich NHS Trusts, where he cares for patients with all types of cardiac problems, such as chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, high/low blood pressure, dizzy spells and blackouts. His primary specialisation lies in the treatment of coronary artery disease, particularly through coronary stenting. Education and Training
He graduated from Cambridge University with a triple first class honours degree, and was selected to undergo further training at Harvard Medical School, where he was awarded High Honours for his Cardiology sub-internship. Having gained all his junior doctor posts at nationally acclaimed teaching hospitals across the UK, he completed his specialist cardiology training at centres of excellence in London, including Barts Heart Centre, Royal Brompton and University College London. His advanced coronary stenting skillsets have been further validated by intensive fellowship training at reputed PCI centres in the UK and abroad.
Research
Dr Gulati's research work, conducted at the Royal Brompton Hospital, has revolved around the role of MRI in evaluating patients with heart failure. His ground-breaking contributions to this field have received worldwide attention, and resulted in numerous first-author publications in prestigious international journals such as JAMA, JACC, and Circulation. He earned his MD degree from Cambridge University and was honoured with the International Young Investigator of the Year Award from the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.

Extremely thorough and professional, with an excellent bedside manner. I would highly recommend Dr Gulati and the team. I was seen early at both appointments, and my test results were returned very quickly.
I have been a patient of Dr Gulati at the QE hospital Woolwich for a number of years due to ongoing heart problems. I was feeling breathless for a while and had swelling in my ankles and legs and my next appointment was 6 months on. I decided to see Dr Gulati at the Blackheath Hospital for a checkup. Dr Gulati gave me a thorough examination and recommended I went straight to A&E with a letter from him. Over the next 10 days, after tests and treatment from Dr Gulati and his team it was decided to refer me to St Thomas's London for 2 leaky valves to be treated. This was successfully carried out. Dr Gulati phoned me to see how I was and I am now back under his care. My family and myself can't thank Dr Gulati enough for all his help and if he hadn't been so on the ball we believe I would not be around today to write this review.
