He completed dual postgraduate training in medicine and surgery and earned his MRCP in 1997 and his FRCS the following year. He then undertook higher specialist training in general neurosurgery in London and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery (FRCS SN) in 2002.

He explained everything well, better than my consultant. He chased all record to inform the consultation & no showed no rush in the consultation. Excellent service.
It was wonderful meeting Dr Ashkan. I was initially a bit nervous, but he was very personable and a joy to converse with. He diagnosed me straight away and confirmed what I thought the issue was. He also wanted to ensure that I knew all my options and explored them before I considered surgery. Jennie, of course, is also a joy. She's very smart, friendly, helpful and efficient.
I consulted Professor Ashkan about a prospective unilateral RF Thalamotomy
Very professional and smooth from start to finish. The consultant was polite, knowledgeable and created a strong feeling of confidence in me as the patient. He was clearing his assessment of my condition and also in his recommendations. In addition, his secretarial support was excellent. Communication was timely and thorough, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the entire experience.
: **Dear Professor Ashkan,** During my consultation, you kindly devoted ample time to reviewing my scans and carrying out a thorough clinical examination. You explained your assessment of my condition and its prognosis with great clarity, and you discussed the available treatment options in detail. Throughout the visit, you expressed your conservative medical opinion in a candid, transparent, and reassuring manner. After meeting with you, I felt confident that I did not need a second opinion. I am certain that, when the time comes for surgery, I will place myself in your care, as you are an experienced, meticulous, and highly trustworthy neurosurgeon. With sincere gratitude, **Thank you, Professor Ashkan.**
