About Mr Bhaskar Thakur

Mr. Bhaskar Thakur is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital, specialising in spinal and neurovascular surgery. He obtained his MB BS from the University of London in 2007.

Mr. Thakur studied Medicine at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, before completing his clinical training at Imperial College London. His neurosurgical training was undertaken at two of London’s leading teaching hospitals, King’s College Hospital and St George’s Hospital, followed by the prestigious Sir Hugh Cairns Complex Spinal Surgery Fellowship at The Royal London Hospital. Here he trained in advanced spinal techniques alongside neurosurgical and orthopaedic specialists.

He has extensive expertise in minimally invasive (keyhole) spinal surgery, performing procedures such as spinal injections, endoscopic discectomy, disc replacement, and complex spinal fusion using the latest techniques to optimise recovery and outcomes. As a fellowship-trained neurovascular surgeon, he also manages complex brain and spinal vascular conditions, including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and cavernomas.

Mr. Thakur’s practice encompasses a wide range of spinal and cranial conditions, with a focus on patient-centred care and innovation. Outside of medicine, he enjoys badminton, tennis, playing the piano and watercolour painting.

I went to see Mr Thakur for my 4 week follow up appointment after my microdiscectomy. Mr Thakur is very professional and also kind and patient. He never makes you feel rushed and he listens properly. This may sound like a basic skill but it's surprising how many medical professionals I have dealt with where you feel like you're either just another patient or you're an inconvenience! I appreciate the time he spends with me and he also called me a couple of days after my operation to check on me. This provided me with the reassurance I needed after relatively major surgery. I feel very lucky to have found him, thank you Mr Thakur.
