    Mr Ivan Tomasi

    General Surgeon

Mr Tomasi saved my life, literally. The gallstones were diagnosed in 2008 and I put up with the chronic pain until April 2025 when I finally told my GP,and had an ultrasound scan. I was seen in outpatient clinic in August. The doctor was going to see me again in 6 months. Then I had Pancreatitis in October and spent 5 days in Cumberland ward. That's when Mr Tomasi comes in. He volunteered to take on what I was told was a tricky case. I knew it too. I hid it from the doctors for years because I foolishly wanted to have my knee replacements first. That decision could havw cost my life. Thankfully, on November 13 Mr Tomasi and his team performed the long overdue cholecystectomy. He spent 20 minutes preop talking to me about all possible outcomes. He was very honest with me. Which I really appreciate. The gallstones were overflowing. I was in pain and had swollen glands. So I know thus wasn't a straight forward cholecystectomy. Mr Tomasi was willing to put his life / career on the line for me. I researched his background beforehand!!, so I knew I was going to make it. What he found during surgery was worse than we both expected. My gallbladder had perforated and was leaking. It wasn't an easy job. I was in theatre for 3 hours, and came back to tell my story. The NHS, again saved my life, ie, Mr Tomasi. I give him the permission to use my surgery as a case study, if he ever needs to. Tell the world how my abdomen was covered in gooey "chocolate!!',and I still left the hospital 5 days later. We just need more medical advancement and better incentives to keep the likes of Mr Tomasi from going private. Thank you Sir, for your contribution to humanity.

The admissions brochure fails to state that family members are not allowed to stay with patients during the pre-operative wait. This is a significant omission, as it creates avoidable anxiety for patients who are already nervous about their procedure and are only informed of this restriction upon arrival. The pre-op nurses showed poor bedside manner when I asked about this. Instead of offering reassurance, they quoted “hospital policy” and then gave reasons that felt dismissive and inaccurate — for example, claiming that “too many people come in and out of rooms,” when in reality only one nurse completed paperwork, followed later by the surgeon and anaesthetist. I was also told I would be going to theatre “shortly,” even though I knew (correctly) that I would be waiting another 1.5 hours. My family member could easily have stayed with me during that entire period, as is standard in the Ulster Independent Clinic and in my previous NHS experiences. The lack of engagement from the pre-op nurse beyond basic paperwork questions made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. The pods themselves felt more like small, bare cells than a calming space prior to surgery — no TV, no artwork, just two chairs and a table. It was far from a soothing environment. In contrast, the theatre staff and post-op nurses were outstanding. They were friendly, proactive, and reassuring, and they made up for the negative pre-operative experience. One final issue: the staff arranging my discharge medication did not check my notes and prescribed a medication I am unable to take. Because the pharmacy had already closed, the only solution was to remove it from the prescription entirely.

    Mr Divyang Shukla

    Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Shukla originally saw me as a private patient in order to relieve the pain in my left shoulder. He gave me a pain reliving injection and advised me that I really needed an operation to solve the problem. He offered to write to my GP and ask him to refer me back to Mr Shukla as an NHS patient for the necessary operation. Subsequently I had an X-Ray and an MRI scan on the shoulder. Yesterday Mr Shukla saw me having seen the X-Ray and scan results and advised me that instead of a shoulder replacement op. he recommended that he carry out a key-hole operation to remove a piece of bone on the shoulder which was causing me pain and also to repair two damaged tendons. This I have agreed to and I now await a date for the op. Mr Shukla is very courteous, kind and re-assuring and also explains what the problem is and what is the best way to resolve the problem.

I recently visited the London Gynaecology Centre for an appointment with Ms. Mishra, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the care I received. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease. Ms. Mishra was incredibly thorough, taking the time to explain everything clearly and answer all of my questions without ever making me feel rushed. What stood out most was her kindness—she approached every part of the consultation with genuine compassion and professionalism. It’s rare to find a clinician who is both highly knowledgeable and truly empathetic, but Ms. Mishra embodies both. I left feeling reassured as I could be-in my situation, informed, and very well looked after. I would highly recommend Ms. Mishra and the London Gynaecology Centre to anyone seeking exceptional care.

Just superb, wonderful, kind, generous, and as stated persuaded my stubborn husband to go to A and E. They never found new stroke or TIA, but having done a CT scan, found a mass on his kidneys. We are going for further investigation. Had this wonderful lady not have really emphasised the importance of being checked to him, we would not have known about the mass on his kidneys. He wouldn't listen to me!! Having another person tell him really really helped. Couldn't recommend you enough, dear lady. Thank you.

As I am severely claustrophobic/cleithrophobic, being in a dentist's chair has traditionally been mega difficult. I have been going to this practice for some years now and they have never failed to be genuinely supportive, kind, pragmatic, responsive to my needs. They have given excellent dental care throughout despite me being a blooming awkward patient! If you are fearful of dentists for whatever reason, I would encourage you to contact these guys, they can be trusted to help.

As an elderly gentleman, I made an appointment with Mr Karuppaiah following a nasty fall in which I severely damaged my wrist and elbow. His attention to detail was very reassuring and my personal concerns were always discussed, with no question too small. He has a reassuring presence and gentle approach. No doubt my successful operation and recovery was down to his surgical stills and knowledge. I cannot recommend Mr Karuppaiah highly enough ‘what an excellent surgeon’.

After suffering months of abdominal problems and seeing various medical professionals without a diagnosis, I made an appointment with Dr George Goodchild at the London clinic. I was very worried and anxious, needlessly as he was so patient and kind I soon felt at ease. He asked a lot of questions and he really listened to me. I now have a diagnosis I can’t thank him enough for his caring and professional approach. Highly recommended

After suffering pain for some time I visited Mr Walczak. He explained everything including all the pros and cons as a hip replacement was. It something o envisaged having to have done at the age of 45. He put my mind at rest and I couldn’t have asked for clearer details as to the whole Procedure and recovery. For anyone in same position as me needing a new hip I would 100% recommend Mr Walczak.

Recent visit fur a knee replacement event. Theatre staff were brilliant keeping me informed of everything they were doing. Recovery nurses also very helpful and cheery. Ward staff were helpful. More information at discharge would be good. Details of medication were well explained but information about how much to mive about, how to deal with swelling not so well covered.

I have an aversion of MRIs from previous experiences. The staff were extremely attentive and they provided an eye patch and other forms of hearing aids to make the 30 minutes more comfortable. When I went on to talk to my consultant all the MRI results were available to help the consultation.
