Dr Sree Subramanian is a Consultant Gastroenterologist based at Addenbrookes hospital with 15 years of experience at consultant level.
He completed clinical and research training, including a fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University in Boston for one year. He was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist to the Royal Liverpool Hospital in October 2009 and moved to Addenbrookes in 2021. His clinical focus areas include IBD (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), colonoscopy, gut microbiome and bowel cancer screening. He has published peer-reviewed articles in gastroenterology journals and has authored several book chapters. He undertook a specific period of research investigating the role of gut bacteria in IBD and continues to be actively involved in clinical and transaltional research.
Dr Subramanian specialises in the investigation and management of IBD, abdominal pain, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), coeliac disease and anaemia. He is an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopy provider. He has performed over 5,000 gastroscopies, colonoscopies, and flexible sigmoidoscopies, and is an accredited bowel cancer screening endoscopist.
He is the regional network lead for gastroenetrology research delivery network.
