Mr Emmet Griffiths

Mr Emmet Griffiths is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow surgery. He practises privately at Norfolk Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Spire Norwich Hospital and also serves as an NHS consultant at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Mr Griffiths specialises in advanced shoulder and elbow procedures, with a strong focus on minimally invasive arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery. His shoulder practice includes rotator cuff tendon repairs, arthroscopic stabilisation surgery, frozen shoulder release procedures, treatment for shoulder impingement, biceps disorders, sports injuries, and high-volume shoulder replacement surgery. He performs approximately 400 shoulder and elbow procedures annually across his NHS and private practices, including around 50 shoulder replacement surgeries each year.

In addition to shoulder surgery, he provides comprehensive elbow surgery services, including treatment for elbow arthritis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, ulnar nerve conditions, and upper limb trauma. His trauma expertise covers fractures and ligament injuries involving the shoulder, elbow, and forearm.

Mr Griffiths completed higher surgical orthopaedic training within the East of England training programme, including two years at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital alongside training at other major regional centres. He subsequently completed a prestigious shoulder and elbow fellowship at the internationally renowned Wrightington Hospital, recognised globally for orthopaedic excellence.

He has further enhanced his expertise through specialist training visits to leading orthopaedic centres in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Griffiths is actively involved in surgical education and mentoring. He serves as an educational supervisor for higher surgical trainees within the East Anglian Orthopaedic rotation and also mentors trainees through the Eastern Deanery and University of East Anglia Medical School.
