I’ve just had my final check-up with Mr Andrew Pieri at his new clinic and felt compelled to write a full review in the hope it gives someone else the confidence to do something for themselves — something I now honestly wish I’d done years ago. My husband first came across Mr Pieri online. What immediately reassured us were his posts showing procedures in real time and explaining exactly what he was trying to achieve for his patients, how and why each step mattered. I was especially impressed that he also continues to perform breast reconstructive surgery for cancer patients at the RVI in Newcastle. Reading his reviews completely cemented my decision. I’m 43 and for over 20 years I’d lacked confidence in my body. My breasts were always small and with age had lost almost all volume. Breast surgery had been something I thought about constantly, but fear and circumstances always got in the way. In February I had my consultation with Mr Pieri. I simply explained what I wanted and he carefully discussed implant sizes that would suit my body. He selected 380cc and 425cc sizers, explaining he would choose the one that gave the best result during surgery. I booked for the beginning of August. I did wobble in July — the usual “what am I doing?” panic. I contacted his assistant Helen (who kindly gave me her WhatsApp for any questions). She reassured me straight away and even arranged another appointment with Mr Pieri within days, which completely settled my nerves. Surgery day was handled beautifully. I arrived at 11am and every member of staff — from nurses to anaesthetists — was warm, kind and professional. By 1pm I was in theatre. My anaesthetist, Mr Dave Buckley, was incredible. He immediately sensed I was nervous and put me completely at ease, chatting with me throughout. The cannula was painless and it was obvious he knew exactly what he was doing. I woke in recovery with the most wonderful team: Tracey, Jen, Tinu, Suja, and others. I made sure to ask their names so I could thank them properly — they made such a difference. I went home a few hours later with antibiotics and codeine, and was told to contact Helen any time with concerns. The first night I slept well, the second night there was some discomfort as the anaesthetic wore off, but I managed with just paracetamol and ibuprofen — I didn’t even need the codeine. I had expected far more pain. Recovery was straightforward: one week mostly resting but walking daily, shallow baths for two weeks, and wearing the supportive bra day and night. After two weeks I saw Mr Pieri again — he removed the dressings and explained every sensation I was feeling, including a strange bubbling sensation in my chest which turned out to be normal fluid and swelling that soon settled. I won’t say it’s painless, but for what the operation involves I was genuinely surprised by how manageable recovery was. Sleeping on my back was the hardest part as I’m naturally a side sleeper. At three weeks post-op I went on holiday to Spain. Mr Pieri advised it was fine as long as I felt well and had travel insurance (which was easy to obtain). I returned to work at four weeks, which was right for me as I work with small children and heavy lifting — Mr Pieri recommends no heavy lifting for 4–6 weeks. I am now four months post-op and have had my final check. My confidence is through the roof. My wardrobe is completely different. I still catch myself looking in the mirror and smiling. At first you think “they look big” while healing — then swelling settles, the shape develops, and by week three I went from “I just want to look nice in swimwear” to “I should have gone bigger!” I’ve written this long review for anyone like me — someone who hesitates, doubts themselves, and avoids making choices that could change their life. If you’ve read this far, you’re already halfway there. Just make the call. Andrew — thank you will never be enough.

Highly recommend Emma and the team at HCA Healthcare, I was dealt with professionalism, care and had the added bonus of getting to know my consultant throughout my pregnancy which made me feel like a person and more at ease, the clinic is also brand new and such a positive calming experience. Going into my c section in the knowledge that the team knew about me personally and saw me regularly was so valuable. Although a last minute complication meant I did not end up having my c section with Emma I still received support from her and the team even on the day and if I am lucky enough to be pregnant again in the future I will definitely want Emma to be my consultant again.

Welcoming and helpful. Only one lift was working and the remaining one was noisy and slow but there was a notice advising of this. The coffee machine in wait area was out of order Reception staff were kind and helpful but sometimes difficult to understand accent. One set of chairs in a sub waiting area was under a shelf which meant I knocked my head. Appeared clean and efficient and was quiet on day of my visit. Preoperative bloods were done straight after consultation which is very good and in fact results appeared next day. That's good service. Overall allowing for things that happen a positive experience.

Had the most amazing time at Abbington House, was exactly what I needed. Was immediately made to feel welcome by staff and clients, everyone has been so warm, friendly and non - judgemental. Food was excellent and the chef Marion was amazing at catering for everyone’s individual needs. I’ve gotten so much out of the groups and one on one sessions. After 28 days I feel like I have been given an amazing framework to take with me on the outside and have met a community that will stay with me throughout the rest of my journey. Despite the 2 year wait for this appointment, it was the first time I felt I was listened to about my experience. 8 years, post total hysterectomy due to breast cancer diagnosis. No HRT, no real support for menopausal symptoms. I had just accepted and learned to live with it! The doctor was extremely knowledgeable, and understanding, and I came away from the appointment feeling quite emotional. I genuinely felt heard and am keen to try the recommended treatments.

Mr Shafafy explained the options carefully and in detail. The procedure he performed did what he said it would although, sadly, that only reduced my symptoms rather than removing them altogether. He explained clearly that there were few other, realistic, options for treatment unless my condition worsens quite considerably. Overall, a very professional encounter.

I was asked to arrive approximately 1.5 hours before the procedure with a full bladder, the latter of which was not necessary. It was a very long and uncomfortable waiting time and I would have brought a book should someone have told me this in advance. This was no reflection on Mr Alhasso though, who was excellent.
