Mr Joseph Norris

Mr Joseph Norris is an experienced and respected specialist Consultant Urological Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and holds an Honorary Consultant Surgeon role at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. His NHS work, and Private Practice, are based at these two Trusts.

He trained in the prestigious London Urology Deanery, including, Charing Cross Hospital, St George’s Hospital, and University College Hospital, following early academic, transplant and urological surgery training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Alongside his medical degree from Brighton & Sussex, he also gained additional academic qualifications at King’s College London (BSc) and University College London (MSc) in Anatomical and Surgical Sciences.

Mr Norris has a wealth of experience across the breadth of urological surgery, and openly welcomes patients with all urology issues (self referral accepted).

He has a rare pedigree in clinical academic training having been mentored by world-leaders in prostate cancer (Mark Emberton, Hashim Ahmed) at both University College London and Imperial College London, and he is passionate in delivering minimally invasive prostate treatment (focal therapy, MIST BPH surgery) and diagnostics (MRI-US fusion biopsy, mpMRI).

Prior to his consultant role, Mr Norris completed an integrated clinical fellowship in prostate cancer focal therapy at Imperial College London and now is one of just a bespoke handful of surgeons in the UK offering prostate focal therapy, with robotic HIFU and cryotherapy, for selected men with prostate cancer, with a focus on achieving excellent clinical outcomes whilst minimising side-effects and preserving quality of life.

For men with urinary symptoms caused by non-cancerous prostate enlargement (BPH), he provides a comprehensive roster of state-of-the-art minimally invasive treatments, including, GreenLight laser prostatectomy, Rezūm, UroLift, and Echolaser/TPLA prostate ablation, in addition to traditional TURP and BNI.

Mr Norris is internationally recognised for his academic work in prostate cancer, having completed three fellowships (NIHR, MRC, RCSEng) delivering a prize-winning PhD from University College London, and having authored over 190 peer-reviewed publications, presenting extensively at national and international meetings. He regularly chairs prostate cancer sessions for the European Association of Urology and remains actively involved in surgical education and training. In Chelsea, he is the Departmental Lead for both Education and Improvement.
