I am at Kingsbridge Hospital for partial knee replacement surgery. Surgical Ward 1 - 28/11/2025. I am writing to express my deepest and sincere thanks for the outstanding care I am receiving during my stay at Kingsbridge Hospital, Ballykelly. The professionalism and kindness I am receiving during my care is outstanding. Sarah, Kerry, Laura & Kim (night staff) from Ward 1 have all been wonderful, nothing was any trouble and I want to thank them for going above and beyond to ensure my well being. Unfortunately, I can’t remember all the names of the staff on ward 1 when I booked in, but again these staff were amazing (Keavsa/luke). I have felt very at ease during my stay and that has come across naturally from you all. You deserve recognition for all your hard work and care you have provided. Please convey my heartfelt thanks to all the staff involved in my care, including the doctors Mr Acton, Dr Brian OG McLary and their team who showed exceptional expertise. Not forgetting the physio. The assessment visit was fine in that I walked away with a clear diagnosis and a plan, but the experience was a little hectic due to cleaners coming in to prepare for the next appointment while we were still there, and the dr needing to take urgent calls as she was on duty at the time. The team I speak with are all very friendly but there seems to be a disconnect between the information exchanged on emails and whatsapp. I feel this may have led to a delay in starting treatment. Again, it's fine because I got it in the end, but there may be some part of the process/line of communication that needs review/improving. My initial virtual visit was at risk of being cancelled due to where I was having the call from. Thankfully, the doctor was able to accommodate another slot on the same day. I noticed that there is now a clear statement on the booking confirmation re: need to be in a private space for virtual calls, which is good.

I had the pleasure of attending several sessions with Mrs. Sandra. The first focused on an assessment of my overall health, followed by clear and practical recommendations for improvement. She prepared a detailed report that included a personalized list of supplements with precise dosages, which I found extremely helpful and highly professional. In addition, I experienced several kinesiological sessions that brought me significant emotional relief. These sessions allowed me to gain new perspectives on patterns I hadn’t recognized before and helped me release them with greater ease. I recommend Mrs. Sandra as a knowledgeable and compassionate practitioner. She approaches each person holistically, integrating both physical and energetic perspectives. I look forward to continuing my work with her in the future.

My whole experience with Mr Holton was exceptional from start to finish and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering a hip replacement. Mr Holton has a wonderful bedside manner, extremely understanding and always gives plenty of time to answer questions and give full explanations. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced and uses the latest technology and techniques. The procedure itself was uneventful and completely comfortable and stress free. My scar has healed beautifully and was the nearest one I have had (and I’ve had a lot of surgeries). I am now pain free and living my best life! Thank you Mr Holton for an incredible experience and a job very well done!

My experience was very disappointing with the consultant. I was happy for my appointment to be changed just before attending due to the consultant running late. I was very disappointed with the lack of interest and time shown to be by the consultant. I got 10 minutes of his time to be told to cut out caffeine at the cost of £250. I was hoping to receive some understanding of what could be causing recurrent UTI's and reassuring me of any fears of anything sinister i.e bladder cancer. Only to be told this only occurs for around 10/20% of cases. I think what really irked me was he looked at his watch part way through me speaking This I found very disrespectful and rude.

My first appointment with Mr Kalkat was on Zoom at Herefordshire County Hospital. While he came across a very professional, I think virtual consultations are less than ideal. I was admitted to The Harborne Hospital very quickly for lung cancer surgery and was taken aback by the empathy and warmth I felt from him when he visited me before surgery. His explanations were very clear and he was very calming. Following surgery he spent a long time going through the outcome with my daughter, a Stage 4 Lung Cancer sufferer. He visited me every day and guided me through my recovery. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

My stay at Delamere was incredible I would highly recommend it. The staff were so friendly and nice, every single one of them knew my name from day 1 which made me feel a lot more comfortable and safer. The structure of the groups and days were well thought out through. Every group was informative, engaging and interesting. They offer many 1-2-1 sessions to allow for a more focused therapeutic approach, all the therapists and mentors were highly knowledgable and compassionate. The food was great with plenty of options and flexibility. I’m very thankful to have got to stay here.

Firstly what a lovely man dr vani is , so positive and caring . When I came to see dr vani I couldn’t have been in a lower point and was desperate for help. He urgently dealt with my situation and gave me hope when I didn’t feel like I had any . He was fantastic and aftercare he gave was totally different to everything I had been told before . It’s been a slow difficult recovery but I have now been discharged . If you have gastrointestinal issues there is nobody better . And as doctor vani said as I left “ if you ever need me I will be here “

Professor Alwyn D'Souza

ENT Surgeon

Professor D’Souza is a constant source of reassurance and demonstrates a deep experience in a gentle and thoughtful manner. His approach is very educated, but pragmatic. In the case of my surgery, he gave excellent feedback on what made my revision difficult, while also explaining very clearly intraoperative discoveries that created problems he had to work around. For the first time in 16 years since a severe injury to my nose, I now see the light at the end of the tunnel to this journey and I owe this to Professor D’Souza.

I made it very clear to the members of staff when I woke up from my procedure that I felt incredibly dizzy and sick. However 30 minutes after I was brought back to the unit I was discharged. Even my husband told the nurses that I was still dizzy and felt nausea. We got home and I slept for three hours.
