My appointment with Dr Madrigal was a breath of fresh air! I've seen more than my fair share of specialists due to complex chronic illness, and I can confidently say that Dr Madrigal is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. I came to him with the hope that he may be able to unpack a suspected misdiagnosis that has weighed on me for 9 years, significantly impacting my quality of life both in the uncontrolled symptoms and management strategies. Safe to say, he exceeded my expectations. He patiently listened, asked clear and thoughtful questions, and exuded a warmth with genuine care and concern (a trait that is sadly not as common as you'd hope among doctors, at least in my experience). He explained the misdiagnosis clearly, what he thinks I may be experiencing instead, and how we can move forward to diagnose / treat it. I didn't feel rushed at all, and it was abundantly clear he wanted to do his best to help me. That care extended to his clinic letter too. Dr Madrigal's letter was easily the best clinic letter I've had from any consultant. Even for bits I found myself struggling to articulate in the appointment, he somehow managed to make sense of it and report it accurately - proving just how deeply he listened to me. His admin team are also amazing, even checking in to make sure I knew what to do next. I truly left that appointment more hopeful than I've felt in YEARS: like I finally may be on the right path to get my life back. All because a highly knowledgeable and kind consultant took the time to compassionately listen. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr Madrigal to everyone I can, and I feel blessed that I was able to see him.

From the moment I arrived at the hospital early in the morning, I was met with such warmth and professionalism. I would recommend Mr Flynn to anyone considering joint surgery. He explains procedures with great care and only carries out work that is strictly necessary. He is definitely on the side of the patient. Mr Flynn has now partially replaced both my left and right knees and my left hip. He is everything you want in a surgeon - kind, gentle, experienced, highly skilled and achieves excellent results. When I went to have my metal staples removed the nurse looked at my knee and said “ Mr Flynn?”. She said she could always recognize his work, it was so neat with minimal scarring. My recovery after the operation has always been quick and smooth and before long I am pain-free and walking normally. Mr Flynn takes great pride in his work and seems as pleased with good results as I am. He is an excellent surgeon with a kind and caring manner. You couldn’t do better.

The aquablation procedure was much better than I had initially feared. With any procedure relating to that part of the body you are naturally apprehensive but the procedure was very efficient and it didn’t take me very long to recover at all. I am younger than the average male going through this procedure but it was recommended as my urine flow was poor and it would only get worse as time passed. Secondary impacts on my bladder may also have happened later on if I hadn’t had it done. My urine flow is now significantly better and I can now approach old age with the knowledge that at least one part of my body is functioning correctly. I would certainly recommend getting this done when you notice a restricted urine flow rather than waiting for it to become a major issue.

I arrived with a little time in hand, and was pleased to be given the relevant eye tests right away. These completed, I had only a few minutes before Mr Strouthidis himself shook my hand and invited to his office, where he carried out his examination. The results were good and I was able to settle my accounts without delay. Everyone was polite, friendly and helpful. One of the eye tests was rather ucomfortable, but that seems to be par for the course.

We had been to the mourne clinic on previous pregnancies but this was our first visit to the new premises. It was absolutely gorgeous, such a lovely welcome and a beautiful waiting area with water and tea facilities available for patients. The scan room itself was very big and spacious and had lovely comfy seats for partners to sit on. The staff on reception and performing the scan were so friendly and professional. It was a wonderful experience.

I find the Spire hospital at Shawfair an easy place to visit. There is plenty of parking and the staff are professional and polite. I did not have to wait for my appointment and the set-up in the hospital was very straightforward (my appointment was a follow-up consultation with no treatment).
