Dr Kaushik Rajamani is a Consultant Rheumatologist and General Physician based at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, where he has been in post since 2020. He is also the clinical director in Rheumatology within the health Board. His clinical expertise focuses on systemic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including vasculitis, connective tissue disease, and inflammatory arthritis.
He completed his undergraduate medical training at Amrita School of Medicine in 2005 and subsequently obtained ECFMG certification in the United States. He undertook specialist training in General Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in Wales and is among the first consultants in Wales to hold dual accreditation in both specialties.
His clinical practice includes the assessment and management of inflammatory joint and vascular diseases, with particular focus on complex multisystem conditions. He performs ultrasound-guided and landmark-based joint and soft tissue injections for a range of musculoskeletal conditions, including treatment of large and small joints such as the hand, wrist, elbow, knee, ankle and foot. This includes management of conditions such as trigger finger and tennis elbow.
Dr Rajamani also provides general medical care within NHS practice and undertakes out-of-hours general medicine duties across South Wales. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and supervises clinical trainees in both rheumatology and general medicine.
He contributes to academic teaching through the University of South Wales MSc programme, where he is involved in teaching and moderation of connective tissue disease modules.
