Mr Rajkumar Gangadharan

Dr Rajkumar Gangadharan is an experienced Orthopaedic Consultant in Lower Limb Surgery based in Liverpool, specialising in the treatment of hip and knee conditions affecting both young adults and senior citizens. His expertise covers the full spectrum of knee conditions including sports knee injuries - meniscal tears, ACL injuries, Multi-ligament injuries, Patellar Dislocations and arthritis requiring knee replacements or hip replacements. He is also an experienced trauma and tumour surgeon, specialising in Pelvic and Acetabular Trauma and Metastatic Bone Disease.

Dr R Gangadharan completed his medical degree in JIPMER, India in 1999 and his post graduate Diploma in Orthopaedics in Madras Medical College in 2003 getting the 'Janaki Natarajan' Gold Medal. He worked in Orthopaedic Oncology as an academic research fellow prior to moving to the United Kingdom.

Dr R Gangadharan has worked as a Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Sports Knee injury specialist in Trauma & Orthopaedics mainly in the North East of England for 9 years and completed his Fellowship Exams in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2016. He worked as a Senior Fellow, promoted to a Consultant in the Oxford University Hospitals in 2017 and he moved to Liverpool in 2020. In Liverpool, he continues to deliver excellent care and performs complex well-planned and well performed surgeries, teaching undergraduates and Orthopaedic Specialty trainees. He has been awarded the most prestigious 'Trainer of the Year' Award by the Merseyside Trainees in 2025.

Dr Gangadharan is a great teacher, academician and a keen listener and performs surgeries in Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital and Spire Liverpool Hospital, treating both NHS and self-pay patients.

He lives with his wife and two daughters on the Wirral and enjoys time with friends & family. He is also a trustee / treasurer of a non-profitable charity organisation.
