David is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon. He recently retired from Northampton General Hospital were he worked for over 20 years.
He qualified from The Royal Free Hospital, London in June 1990 having also undertaken a BSc at St. Mary’s Hospital.
His specialist Orthopaedic training was based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore, and he was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in May 1999.
David completed a fellowship in arthroplasty and sports medicine at SPORTSMED.SA, Adelaide, South Australia. The fellowship involved the treatment of patients with hip and knee arthritis, with operations using a range of different implants to suit the patients’ needs. Athletes from a diversity of sporting backgrounds were treated. Knee ligament and “cartilage” injuries were particularly common and SPORTSMED had a national reputation for the treatment of these conditions.
He went on to gain a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine.

He represented England in the Rugby Students World Cup in 1988 and played for Saracens Rugby Football Club first XV. This sporting background allows him to understand the effect an injury has both physically and psychologically on an athlete. He has obtained a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
His level III qualification in Pre Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS) allows him to participate as a pitch side Immediate Care Doctor (ICD) at home games.
David has lectured both nationally and internationally and enjoys teaching junior Orthopaedic surgeons and medical students.
He continues to work at The Three Shires Hospital and has a special interest in treating knee ligament, meniscal and chondral injuries and for primary and revision joint replacements of the hip and knee. He has developed a sub speciality interest in treating athletes from various sports presenting with knee ligament and cartilage injuries.

Mr David Stock is an informative, excellent doctor. He gives patients clear explanations. Many patients report good outcomes from hip and total knee replacement surgery. His full care runs from initial visit to recovery.
A very good experience. Mr Stock explained things well and listened to my concerns.
Exceptionally happy with my treatment for my knee replacement and all the subsequent follow up appointments. I would definitely want Mr David Stock to carry out the operation on my other knee. Being a very nervous person he put me at total ease.
Relatively nervous to hearing the results of my Mri. Mr Stock was very informative with this, and i felt at ease once seen him. When one thinks the pain and symptoms were all in ones head and over thinking matters, it's a relief to know it's not all in ones mind. I believe Mr Stock is one of the best consultants in the county. I will have no more worries when he works his magic and fixes my knee. Apprehensive but i know I'll get the best and right treatment.
I found David to be personable, confident and comfortable to speak with. His attention to detail determined a specific model of replacement for me, which added to my level of confidence in what is to come.

Thank you very much for your kind words, I am delighted I was able to help David
Having my surgery cancelled, 3 days before due date, on account of a slightly high glucose reading (0.03 mmol/L above max limit), I was particularly anxious to travel to see my family in Australia and return to play golf. Having tried unsuccessfully on aa number of occasions to reschedule my surgery ASAP. I felt rather frustrated, and decided to seek help locally, and read Mr David Stock references provided by the ‘Three Shires Clinic’. Feeling hopeful, that he would consider taking me on as a patient, I booked a visit to see him. From the very start, we connected. Fabulous mannerism, sporting background and someone who appreciated my level of fitness for an active 76-year-old who had prepared for the surgical procedure. During our appointment, he directed me to his website to read about ‘knee replacement surgery’ and once satisfied with the contents to refer to him. Totally assured and confident, I accepted the terms and conditions and underwent my left knee replacement on 13th August 2025 and right knee on 29th of October 2025. During my hospital stay at ‘Three Shires’ on both occasions, we joked and chatted happily, as I was totally confident of his post-surgical care. He reminded me, not to hesitate to call on him if I ever experienced any problems. Currently, I continue to do my physio exercises, walk 3 miles a day at an average of 3.5 mph, and have walked 2 rounds of golf before coming here to Australia. Been walking daily here in Queensland. Thank you Mr Stock, I am very happy to recommend you to anyone who finds himself needing your help.

Thank you for your testimonial. I am delighted that the knee replacements went so well, in a large part due to your pre and post operative adherence to physiotherapy. Hopefully your golf will benefit as well as a result of the surgery !!
Was reviewing left hand hip pain and post injection.
Very impressed and the procedure was totally pain-free and I am now able to bend down quite easily. Thank you.

I am delighted you have had such a good outcome as a result of the injection. It is likely the effect will wear off in time, but we can meet again and discuss how you would like to go forward. Thank you David
David and I have worked together for a number of years at Northampton General Hospital. He is an experienced surgeon with a good reputation. He is also an excellent colleague whose prime focus is patient's care, and he leads by example.
