I had cataract surgery on both eyes on 4th December 2025 and l was discharged today, 12th January 2026. I'm so pleased to say l don't need to wear glasses or contact lenses any more. From start to finish, my experience at Freedom Vision Chelmsford was exceptionally good - and my end result is superb vision. - more than l could ever have hoped for. Colours are radiant and bright, and probably the biggest bonus for me is feeling so much more confident driving at night. After undergoing rigorous tests and scans , the actual procedure is very quick and painless. All the staff, without question were delightfully kind people and I'd like to thank them all individually, if only l knew their names. But in particular, l'd like to thank Nicola who guided me patiently and expertly throughout the whole procedure, and a massive thank you to Mr Hove , my surgeon, for being such a genius. If you are contemplating cataract surgery, l urge you to go for it - don't be scared - you won't regret it!

Arrived fifteen minutes before the agreed appointment time as requested. Waited a further 20 minutes before being taken into the pre Investigation booth. Advised to remove certain clothing and jewellery which I did. Ifudbt catch what the nurse ? Assistant quite says as she spoke so quickly. A reversed to this a that. I waited in the booty a further 10 -15 minutes. I opened the door. No one around. I went back into reception as I didn’t know where I should be. Wondering whether I should have returned to the reception. An assistant checked my details. Then a further assistant arrived and took me back to the booth. Scan itself. Could not understand the therapist heard part but again so quick. But held in there. Need more clarity clearer instructions. Speak slowly.

The staff at KIMS Hospital are truly amazing and incredibly friendly. Their professionalism and genuine compassion were unmatched by any experience I’ve had in NHS care. I felt supported, reassured, and well looked after from start to finish. Several people stood out during my stay: Amy in recovery, David, who prepared me for the epidural, Becky, my physio, and Mark, who handled my medication. My two nurses who cared for me around the clock were also outstanding — attentive, kind, and consistently reassuring. I honestly can’t fault any part of the care I received. Visit was easy to book via Circlehealthgroup although reception seems to be over capacity compared to previous visits particularly with all patients having to queue and book in at main reception as opposed to the previous process of checking in at the Outpatients Area reception. Queue resulted in slightly late arrival to patient waiting area.

It was an excellent experience. Mr Pennington listen to my issues and performed an examination, explain what could be the potential problems. He arranged for an x-ray confirming problem. He went onto explain what it was in detail and the options moving forward. The whole process was approx. 1 hour. I wish I had of used this service earlier.

I went to see Dr Haddad with my son. Dr Haddad was 3rd specialist we saw as my son’s condition didn’t improve or changed. After Dr Haddad’s examination, he identified the issue straight away.
