Knowing I needed to have my cataracts removed, I did my research carefully and chose to trust Mr Patton, based on his training, experience, specific expertise and patient feedback. I selected Regency Eye hospital for my treatment, for its self presentation, patient Feedback and location. Everyone told me that it is a simple operation and that I would be fine. I didn’t believe them. At my initial consultation with Mr Patton he gave me full information on what was needed, what I could expect from the operation, recovery schedule and possible risks. His friendly, calm approach immediately reassured me that I had made the right choice. All through the process Mr Patton’s secretary, Kate, sent reassuring messages and prompt answers to my questions. 10 days later I had the first operation: knowing how stressed I would be, I had opted for IV sedation, which was a good choice. Within 24 hrs the sight in the operated eye was proving to be sharper and clearer than the sight in the other eye, where I was using a contact lens. Exactly 2 weeks after the first operation, the second eye was operated on. This time the process was not so unknown, my BP was a little lower, i was still grateful for the IV sedation. The operation seemed to go more quickly and by the next morning I had no blurring or smearing, everything was crystal clear. I quickly almost forgot I had had an operation. In both cases, my fears were proved baseless: I saw nothing, and felt nothing. Overall good apart from the delay

Mr Niall Patton performed cataract surgery on my eyes in Dec. '24 and Jan. '25. I went to see him on the recommendation of my optometrist and after looking closely at all reviews. Not only is he highly regarded by his peers as a surgeon, but he has an excellent manner with patients. He explains things very clearly and points out the various options and the expected outcomes. I was particularly impressed with the way in which he spoke with the nursing staff in the theatre as well as with me the patient. Imo he is an exceptional practitioner, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Furthermore, he has a competent admin team and everything runs smoothly from the first consultation to discharge. Aftercare is very important and again, Mr Patton is exceptionally thorough.
