About Mr Jeffrey Kwartz
Jeff Kwartz graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1985. He did his ophthalmology training at St James's Hospital in Leeds and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He undertook a fellowship in external eye disese and cornea at the University of Toronto in 1994 where he became one of the first UK eye surgeons to become skilled in phacoemulsification cataract surgery.
In 1996, Mr Kwartz became a consultant ophthalmologist at the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, where he is also co-clinical lead of the eye department. He has 34 years experience as an eye surgeon and specialises in cataract and corneal surgery, disorders of the front of the eye, red/sore eyes and dry eye. As an on-call ophthalmologist, he has vast experience of emergency eye care and cases of sudden visual loss.
During his career, Mr Kwartz has performed over 15,000 cataract operations as well as many thousands of anterior eye procedures including corneal transplants, pterygium and chalazion removal and corneal cross-linking for keratoconus. He is very experienced at complex cataract surgery and is often called on by his colleagues to manage challenging cases. Mr Kwartz's audited surgical success rate is excellent, with a very low rate of complications. He has extensive experience in lens replacement surgery for remedying short and long sight.
Jeff is well-recognised for his an excellent communication skills and easy manner and for putting patients at ease whilst giving complete, full and honest answers to their questions.

Mr Kwartz replaced the lens in my weaker eye first, this was successful. A few weeks later, he replaced the lens in my other eye, again it was a complete success. He used Rayner RayOne EMV lenses. I can only recommend Mr Kwartz and the lenses he recommended and fitted. I can now see perfectly for distance and my computer without the need for glasses. Brilliant result. Extremely happy with the outcome.
