About Dr Elliot Smith
Dr Elliot Smith, Consultant Cardiologist, is currently working within the Barts Heart Centre and the Royal Free Hospital, London. He also sees private patients within several London private hospitals. He is highly specialised in all aspects of cardiology including chest pain syndromes, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmia and valve disease. He has a special interest in the management and diagnosis of coronary artery disease.
Dr Smith began his training at Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals, before specialising in Cardiology at Hospitals in Manchester and London (Manchester Royal Infirmary and the London Chest Hospital). He practises as an interventional cardiologist where he performs Coronary Angiography and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention procedures. He is also very experienced in performing Rotational Atherectomy and the minimally invasive treatment of longstanding arterial blockages (CTOs). He is the Clinical Lead for the Complex Coronary Revascularisation Program at Bart's NHS Trust. He is world-renowned for his expertise and regularly travels to Europe, Asia or the Middle East to train fellow cardiologists in these procedures.
He is an active researcher focusing on Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) and Percutaneous Haemodynamic Support. He is invited to participate in conferences and demonstrations globally.

Dr Smith was very welcoming, thorough and efficient with his assimilation and documentation of my previous cardiology history .It was very helpful to be able discuss my clinical symptoms and findings with him and to receive his timely ,clear, logical and robust written formulation of my clinical situation along with his plan for my subsequent investigations going forwards for which I am most grateful.
Dr Smith was very thorough and explained to me In layman's terms what he believed was wrong.He put my mind at ease,and prescribed medication to help.
Elliot Smith inspires confidence and exudes competence from the instant one meets him. What makes him rather special though, is his warm, approachable manner and the fact that he takes the time to listen to his patients before providing a well- reasoned opinion on which he bases his recommended course of action in simple, straight-forward terms. His leadership skills did much to quell my anxiety on the day of my procedure, when he calmly took charge of the operating environment and made me feel that by choosing the team at Barts, I had the best hands caring for me. His interaction with his colleagues was also noteworthy, speaking not only of an excellent doctor, but of a truly decent human being. Debbie has to be one of the most efficient PAs I have ever encountered. She made the arrangements seem effortless and dealt with all my queries in double-time and is a real asset to this cardiology practice.
