About Dr Elliot Smith
Dr Elliot Smith, Consultant Cardiologist, is currently working within the Barts Heart Centre and the Royal Free Hospital, London. He also sees private patients within several London private hospitals. He is highly specialised in all aspects of cardiology including chest pain syndromes, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmia and valve disease. He has a special interest in the management and diagnosis of coronary artery disease.
Dr Smith began his training at Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals, before specialising in Cardiology at Hospitals in Manchester and London (Manchester Royal Infirmary and the London Chest Hospital). He practises as an interventional cardiologist where he performs Coronary Angiography and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention procedures. He is also very experienced in performing Rotational Atherectomy and the minimally invasive treatment of longstanding arterial blockages (CTOs). He is the Clinical Lead for the Complex Coronary Revascularisation Program at Bart's NHS Trust. He is world-renowned for his expertise and regularly travels to Europe, Asia or the Middle East to train fellow cardiologists in these procedures.
He is an active researcher focusing on Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) and Percutaneous Haemodynamic Support. He is invited to participate in conferences and demonstrations globally.

Interventional Cardiology is one of the most demanding of disciplines requiring complete clarity of thought and most importantly the skill and ability to react swiftly and with confidence in the face of unexpected and life threatening complications . For this I will remain sincerely grateful to Dr Elliott Smith who showed exactly these qualities during my recent stenting procedure . Moreover every single member of the medical , nursing ,the Cath lab and ward 3D staff on King George V were some of the most caring and cheerful staff I have encountered .
