New Forest Psychiatry is an independently operated service established in 2022 by Dr Robert Gordon, specialising in the assessment, treatment, support and prevention of mental disorders (including adult ADHD and adult autistic spectrum disorder). The service also helps individuals in these situations to reach their full potential, also addressing burnout prevention.
The mission of the practice is to offer comprehensive and high-quality support to individuals facing challenges with their mental health and mental disorders.
Dr Robert Gordon completed his medical degree at Imperial College London in 2011 and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2018. His approach emphasises proactive measures to prevent mental illness by aiding individuals in realising their full potential, alongside providing treatment and assistance to those already grappling with mental health issues. Dr Gordon is also deeply committed to the prevention and management of burnout.
Dr Gordon has practiced as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS since 2011 and has a wealth of experience in working with patients across a spectrum of mental disorders. His expertise extends to anxiety disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and generalised anxiety disorder, as well as mood disorders like bipolar affective disorder and depressive disorders. Additionally, he offers adult autism assessments and provides guidance and support following diagnosis, along with the assessment, treatment, and support for adult ADHD.
The service also has a personal story: Dr Gordon built the New Forest Psychiatry service after being inspired by his son who was diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder and ADHD, as well as the hundreds of patients he has supported. As per the company values, the service is committed to quality and innovation, integrity, collaboration and respect in all that the service does.

demonstrated expertise and care for my outcomes, although follow ups were difficult to get - slow response to emails, despite repeated attempts

New Forest Psychiatry has updated the email system to admin@newforestpsychiatry.com and has recently appointed more staff to address the increasing demand on the service.
It was a phone appointment- helpful with discussed outcomes. I’m trialling a new dose of meds with a follow up coaching session on the 29th April.
It was my first session but it was very interesting and I believe that future sessions have the potential to be incredibly helpful.
Seeing Dr. Gordon for my psychiatric review was such a stress and anxiety free experience. I immediately felt at ease with him, and I felt very listened to and validated. The whole service felt very patient focused, and I felt that patient comfort and trust was at the centre of everything. I would whole heartedly recommend.
The appointment was easy to arrange . Everything was on time Location was great
Very good and helpful information + personal. Great to get the help I need.
Dr brown was very professional and listened like no other health professional I have dealt with previously. He took the time to understand my issues and concerns to give me a real assessment I felt so relieved after my appointment and recommend him highly.
I recently had my formal ADHD assessment, and this was handled very well, I was made to feel very welcome, and relaxed while going through the process. I felt that it was handled in a very friendly way and was made to feel at ease through the process.
Robert was very welcoming and kind it lead me to be able to connect with him almost instantly.
I recently attended an initial ADHD assessment with Dr Gordon and had a really positive experience. From the start, he was welcoming, friendly and easy to talk to, which helped put me at ease as I was a bit nervous about the appointment. He took the time to listen carefully and asked thoughtful questions, allowing me to explain my experiences without feeling rushed. I felt that he genuinely wanted to understand my situation and was very patient throughout the assessment. The whole process felt professional but also very supportive. Overall, it was a really comfortable and reassuring first step in the assessment process, and I’m very glad I had the appointment with Dr Gordon.
