The Spire has excellent facilities (car parking, waiting area, consulting rooms etc) and the reception staff are very attentive and helpful. The “formal check in” using an iPad is an unnecessary hurdle for patients to negotiate. The earlier system of just checking in with the receptionist was much better. My appointment with Dr. Balerdi was on time and a very useful session. Re. Dr. Balerdi himself, my very postive comments are in an earlier section.

Overall my first appointment at Spire Lea hospital was a satisfactory experience. At the reception I was quickly registered as an insurance patient. The waiting time was not very long. The duration of the appointment was long enough to cover all my questions, explain my problem and get a gynaecology examination by the doctor with help of a female assistant. The doctor explained to me a treatment to follow to alleviate my symptoms.

Great service. The consultant spent plenty of time with me asking lots of questions about all aspects of my life as well as symptoms so I felt my care was very holistic. I had the opportunity to ask questions and explore different treatment options. The consultant was very empathetic and I really appreciated her knowledge of menopause which I have not been able to access through my GP. Very happy with the service.

Miss Summerhayes is fantastic. She is very reassuring, friendly and knowledgeable. She has a terrific bedside manner, which eased the strss of my cancer treatment. Lyn Corlass keeps the process running smoothly and has always gone the extra mile to ensure that there was minimal waiting time for tests, treatments and appointments. Over all, they have made a very difficult time, much easier to deal with.

Unfortunately, the anaesthetic injected into my hip bled across to my sciatic nerve and my entire right leg went numb after I left, and until the next day. Dr Seth eventually explained to me that this is rare, which I understand. But trying to contact him by the time I'd got home was very difficult: I called 3 times, roughly an hour apart, before I had a call back.

Seating not suitable for my husband who was 2 weeks after bilateral hip surgery. Too low and no support or arms to help them up. Disabled toilet set away from reception down a corridor and the sign said childrens toilet. A long walk for those with disabilities whereas normal toilets are directly off reception.
