    Newmedica Newcastle

I was referred to Newmedica Newcastle for eye cataract surgery by my optician. I had my first eye surgery done in September, and my second eye done in December. I received excellent service from all the Newmedica colleagues whenever I visited; for my pre-surgery consultation, the surgeries themselves, and the post-surgery visits. Those working on the reception were friendly and made me feel welcome. The waiting area was clean and tidy, with hot drinks available. The colleagues who did the testing, pre-surgery administration, and post-surgery follow up checks were all very knowledgeable. They took me through the surgery preparations, explaining the process as they went, putting me at ease and answering any questions. After surgery they made sure I was aware of what I needed to do over the following three weeks to ensure my eyes healed completely. The surgical team were very proficient, and I felt I was in safe hands. The procedure was explained at every step, putting me at ease. The consultant for my first procedure was Nicholas Wride. The procedure itself took just under 3 minutes, which I had not expected, as internet searches indicated it would take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. I was so impressed and, as I was told I could have the same consultant for the cataract removal procedure on my second eye, I didn’t hesitate to ask for Nicholas Wride again. My second procedure was equally as expertly performed, and this time took 3 minutes 20 seconds. There was no pain during the procedures and only very slight discomfort straight afterwards. Other than the pain relief eye drops that were put in for the surgical procedure, I didn’t need to take any painkillers at all. The hardest part for me was remembering to use the post-surgery eye drops the clinic provided, as my eyes felt that good. Three weeks after surgery, I attended the clinic for post-surgery follow up checks. I was signed off from the clinic after the follow up check on my second eye. My vision is now excellent, and I only need to use reading glasses for small print. Before the surgery I wore varifocal lens glasses at all times. I wasn’t expecting the improvements in my sight to be quite so good, so I’m pleased I took up the opportunity to have my cataracts removed and really pleased that it was Newmedica Newcastle who did the procedures and looked after me and my sight so well. Thank you Newmedica!

Excellent bedside manner with a true desire to get to the bottom of a problem. Free from the often occurring "I am so brilliant vibes" that I at times got from other consultants. Refreshing down to earth, approachable, very friendly. Most importantly, excellent listening skills, does not try to convenience you of a diagnosis after only hearing a quarter but appears to be thorough before making up his mind. Excellent communicator, who gets a patient fully involved, showing pictures to explain and explaining what he sees on a screen. I initially was a bit apprehensive thinking, hmmm has not got 3 decades of experience like some practitioners I saw in the past. On reflection, a good thing, still greatly motivated to make a difference and passionate about what he does. Deos not leave you feel watching the clock (he went over time, thank you) or rushed. Overall so far a positive experience (first consultation). I usually don't leave long feedbacks but if someone "goes the extra mile", so will I. Most importantly, if you had negative experiences before with consultants causing you pain/flare ups in the night and following day(s) due to handling you roughly during an examination, then give Dr Raiman a try. He very carefully moved my limbs with utmost consideration during the necessary examination, which helps building trust.

Mr Brew came in to see me on the morning of surgery. I also saw him briefly in the anti room before going into theatre, and then again in my room, post surgery. He said all had gone well and that he would pop in to see me the following day. The physio came to see me several times the next day, so I was up and about with the physio and using the walking aid. Mr Brew popped in again early evening to see how I was, and said he would come and see me the following day. My physio came the next morning and we had more intensive exercises throughout the day. By late afternoon, I was doing well with the exercises and the physio said she was more than happy to discharge me if I would like to go home. So I didn’t see Mr Brew again until Friday this week, when he confirmed that he was happy with the way my knee was looking, then we looked at the X-rays with him and everything looked good. In actual fact, I was just recovering from a migraine on the day of my appointment, and wasn’t confident in asking the questions I had written down. My fault of course, but it is my intention to phone Mr Brews secretary and ask her if she would be kind enough to ask them on my behalf, and let me know the answers. He did say he would arrange to see me again at the end of the year.

I had worried previously about the need for this procedure, not knowing the risks and outcomes. However, the online information provided ahead of the procedure was detailed and comprehensive, so I knew exactly what to expect. I have known Mr Hemmerdinger for many years, and had confidence in his ability, so I was not at all worried on the day. He gave me so much time to reconsider and mentally prepare, that I worried about holding up his other patients! I really appreciated this. The procedure was not in the least daunting. It seemed to me like paintballing, with flashes of green light. There was no discomfort, apart from a headache from the pilocarpine drops administered in advance, and blurred vision for a while. I waited after the procedure for half an hour to allow time for recovery, after which the eye pressure had reduced. I was particularly reassured by access to the online advice again later, to double check what I should know, and to note and follow up any queries. My only query was promptly answered by email. In all, this was a very positive experience. I wait to learn whether the procedure was effective, but have no qualms now about repeating it in the future, if necessary.

I contacted Mr Kapoor following a recommendation from a family friend at a point where my condition had become severe. I was unable to walk and was spending much of the day crawling due to pain. Mr Kapoor saw me promptly, and after discussion we agreed that a microdiscectomy was the best course of action. From my initial consultation to surgery was just six days, which was remarkable and hugely reassuring. The relief I felt when I woke up from surgery was instant. The sciatic pain had completely disappeared, and for the first time in a long while I was able to move freely. I genuinely feel that Mr Kapoor gave me my life back and put me firmly on the road to recovery. I would also like to mention Naomi, his secretary, who was consistently helpful and supportive throughout the entire process. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her, even when she was unwell herself. I would strongly recommend Mr Kapoor and the team at Spire Macclesfield to anyone needing spinal surgery.

Needed a routine hernia operation, didn't want to wait 4–6 months, chose Royal Free Private Patients based on surgeon's online profile and because profits go to NHS; also I have been an NHS patient at RF. Was seen quickly for initial consultation and got surgery appointment when I wanted it. Mr Iype did a tidy job of the surgery, I am now recuperating with no complications so far and very little pain. Anaesthetists were friendly and efficient, and Severo my nurse in my ward was helpful, reassuring and friendly. I had a ward room to myself, which my wife could stay in while I had the surgery. It was clean and roomy, though a little cold – take extra blankets. The lunch I was given after surgery was pretty good, and they were able to get a sandwich for my wife too as well as teas and coffees. All in all, went very well.

I had a really positive experience at The Harborne Hospital. I was greeted warmly on arrival and was actually seen before my appointment time, which was very much appreciated. My consultant Mr Leung truly listened to me and took the time to understand the full picture of how I’ve been feeling. He was extremely thorough, and for the first time in a long while, I left feeling hopeful — hopeful not only that my pain can be better managed, but also that I may finally get a clear diagnosis of what is actually happening to me. I really appreciated how carefully and thoughtfully everything was explored. Every member of staff I met was kind, professional, and supportive. The level of care and compassion shown throughout my visit was outstanding. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this service.

Mr.Miles performed partial knee replacements on both of my knees. Both procedures were faultless, and the persistent and severe pain that I had in each knee (apart from the expected post-operative swelling) disappeared straight away. I had been in so much pain prior to each surgery, and painkillers only took a slight edge off of the pain. I was unable to walk any distance, sleep properly and it was affecting my work. But Mr.Miles’ interventions literally gave me my life back. One of the partial replacements is 12 years old and the other is 10 years old - but I’m still pain free. Thank you Mr.Miles.

I recently visited Dr Kathryn at The Real You Clinic for some botox. She took the time to listen to everything I said, and gave very good advice, and I am very happy with the results. Most of my lines have disappeared, ond even the couple of deep forehead lines I had, now appear so much softer. She has achieved this, while still maintaining a natural look., which was exactly what I wanted. The clinic is in a lovely setting and always feels very clean and welcoming. I would 100% recommend Dr Katnryn to anyone looking to get botox.

I had an ovarian cyst and ovary removed via keyhole surgery by Dr Mackintosh and can highly recommend her. She listened, we agreed the treatment plan together and I felt involved in all decisions throughout. She explained everything very well. The operation went well and she did an excellent job ensuring minimal trapped air afterwards and the scars have healed really nicely. Would not hesitate to visit her again - but obviously hope I don’t have to!
