About Dr Nisith Sheth
Dr Nisith Sheth is a Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatological Surgeon at St John's Institute of Dermatology, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, practising in general dermatology, skin cancer and Mohs micrographic surgery. He holds a substantive NHS consultant post in the Dermatology Surgery and Laser Unit at St John's, the largest clinical dermatology department in the UK, founded in 1868, where he trains junior doctors and visiting honorary consultants from the UK and abroad.
General dermatology
He sees and treats acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, hair and nail disorders, pigmentation and discolouration, scarring and ageing skin. He takes referrals from GPs and other specialists for opinions on common and rare skin conditions, and on complications following cosmetic procedures.
Moles and skin cancer
Full skin checks and dermoscopic mole assessment, diagnosis and surgical management of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, and mole and lesion removal.
Mohs micrographic surgery
Dr Sheth holds a UK-accredited fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, a qualification held by relatively few specialists in the UK. He sits on the Executive Board of the European Society for Micrographic Surgery, which sets European standards for Mohs practice and training, and in 2026 co-organised and co-hosted the largest Mohs course in Europe, held in London.
Training and background
He entered medical school on a British Medical Association scholarship and graduated with class and national prizes. He trained in the UK, USA and Canada, with fellowship training in complex skin surgery, lasers and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, and won an American Academy of Dermatology award for research in melanoma. He is a board member of the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group, a former Royal College of Physicians college representative, and previously sat on the Royal College of Surgeons training interface group.

Dr Sheth was very professional and thorough in his approach. He took the time to ask me in great detail about the history of my dermatology issues and gave me an incredibly thorough examination. He identified potential areas of concern, explained clearly what the options were and treated them accordingly. He made a great effort to follow up after my treatment to make sure that everything had gone according to plan and is incredibly responsive to any queries. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

My husband and I are long term patients of Dr. Sheth who is our go-to physician for dermatology. Specifically his expertise during our annual mole check exams is very reassuring. As my father-in-law died of melanoma, these check-ups are important to ensure that my husband maintains his skin health, nor do I neglect my own. Dr. Sheth's exams are performed in an easy approachable manner with his explanations for any follow up he may expertly perform always clear. His scheduling team is most responsive should we wish to see him promptly for a specific issue. I am most grateful for his care.
I have been a patient of Dr Sheth for over 10 years for annual skin examination. His manner is always friendly and thoroughly professional. He explains everything in a non- threatening manner. He has previously surgically removed suspicious skin lesions but none were required this visit. I trust his advice and value him a source for annual monitoring.
