Mr Hitesh Dabasia provides a comprehensive service for
patients experiencing symptoms related to their spine. He is a dual UK and
internationally trained spinal surgeon with a full time NHS practice based
at Milton Keynes University Hospital and is available for private
consultations.
After completing his undergraduate medical training at
Cardiff University, he pursued his ambition to become an orthopaedic spine surgeon.
After completing his specialist orthopaedic training in the UK, he successfully
completed the prestigious AO Spine Adult and Paediatric Spinal Fellowship in
Brisbane, Australia under the mentorship of the highly regarded spinal
surgeon Dr Geoff Askin. Working closely under the guidance of Dr Askin and his
colleagues in Brisbane, Mr Dabasia was able to learn and further his
understanding and surgical skills with regards to the management of routine and
complex spinal conditions. On his return to the UK he has worked at consultant
level at major spinal centres in Southampton and Oxford, before establishing
his NHS practice at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
At your consultation Mr Dabasia will undertake both a thorough
analysis of your symptoms and a detailed clinical examination before
discussing his professional opinion with you. Further investigations such as an
MRI scan may be required to evaluate your condition. Mr Dabasia will discuss
all treatment options with you, utilising the best current available
evidence, to help select the correct treatment option for you. His strategy
is to try and maximise non-surgical treatment options to treat your condition where
possible, including using a combination of pain medications, physiotherapy and
injections. Those patients who may benefit from surgery will be carefully
counselled about this before any decision is taken.
Mr Dabasia continues to be actively involved in the medical
education of the next generation of doctors, teaching medical students from
the University of Buckingham and supervising future orthopaedic surgeons from
the Oxford Deanery training programme.

I found him very helpful pre surgery and when I got back. On one of his visits post operative he didn’t make eye contact and looked at the wall above me rather than at me. His work was very good. I

I met several times with Dr Dabasia. Dr Dabasia never pushed me to go towards the surgery, insted he gave me all the available options and the advantages and disadvantages of each of them. His knowledge, caring and attention to detail gave me the trust that I needed from a surgeon. I am so grateful and pleased that I was lucky to have met Dr Dabasia and I can not praise him enough. Thank you and thank you again and again. Esther

I contacted Mr Dabasia after suffering from sciatica for 4 months with no improvement and symptoms worsening .On my initial appointment I felt like Mr Dabasia completely understood my issue and was sympathetic. He recommended the next stage in the process and we arranged an MRI. Once this was completed I revisited and we discussed my options. At this point I opted for a Lumbar discectomy due to the size of my disc herniation and constant pain I was in. I was back within a week to have the surgery. I’ve never had any type of operation before so was pretty nervous but felt a lot better once Mr Dabasia came to see me pre operation as he explained everything in a very calm and controlled manner so felt I was in safe hands. Once he had completed the surgery I had instant pain relief from the sciatica and he visited the ward to explain exactly what he had done and how the operation went . Once again that afternoon he visited when my wife arrived at the hospital so he could explain a bit more about my recovery . We were both really impressed with the personal touch and time taken as I’m sure he is very busy but never felt rushed and he wanted to answer any questions we had . I am now nearly a month post op and have seen Mr Dabasia again for a follow up. I am so grateful he carried out my surgery and the care has been amazing. I’m starting to get my life back to normal. So thank you again. Andrew

I always felt that I knew what he was going to do and why. He was concerned about me and not just the medical condition.
