I had a very positive experience at Spire Shawfair Park Hospital. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were welcoming, efficient, and extremely helpful, making the check‑in process smooth and stress‑free. The hospital itself was immaculate throughout, with clean, modern facilities that created a reassuring and comfortable atmosphere. The layout of the building is thoughtful and spacious, with plenty of room in both the reception and waiting areas, ensuring a calm environment while waiting for my consultation. I never felt crowded or rushed. My consultation took place in a well‑equipped room with high‑quality medical facilities, which further added to my confidence in the care I was receiving. Overall, the combination of cleanliness, efficiency, professional staff, and excellent facilities made my visit exceptionally positive. I would not hesitate to recommend Spire Shawfair Park Hospital to others seeking high‑quality care.

It would have been better if it was made more clearly to us that Johns' vision would settle after 3-4 weeks rather than be under the impression 10-14 days would see vision return. The difference in wording is quite subtle. If there were to be future patients with only one eye, and this needs operating on, then I would like to advise that it is extremely difficult to function with this sudden complete loss of sight, even for a few days. Both patient and any carer need to be made aware of this and the psychological pressure it brings to all involved in caring at home. Fortunately, I have experience through eye injury of my own and Social Care work. Therefore I was more prepared than John was!! We are very happy that Mr. Alexander took time to run through tests and explanations thoroughly in a very pleasant manner. When I arrived for my initial consultation I was very impressed with how much detail we went into, about myself, what I wished to achieve, why and how it would potentially affect my lifestyle and even possibly my vision going forward. Will has a lovely persona and I felt comfortable and at ease the entire time. I was given plenty of time to ask question and there was definitely no feeling of being either rushed, or pushed into the procedure. The procedure itself was great. I felt no pain and it was over much quicker than I had anticipated. Once home the bruising began but I had no pain at all and no need for any painkillers. I have since returned for my 12 week check and the difference in the before and after photos is quite unbelievable. I am over the moon with the results and would recommend Will at the drop of a hat. Apprehensicw,about todays appointment lead to an afib episode prior ,on.arival professionally asked whether a studenr could be present i had no objection. He allowed me to explain my situation history and current feelings ,i did not feel ant time pressures and felt he was genuiniely listening to my concerns. Presented my options regarding my afib maling a point many tines to reassure me about my issue. I felt at ease,he didnt hokd back about my bicuspid aorta valve preparinf me for what im sure will inevitably be needing to be replaced. Talked about my exersising and current routine and advised to keep up every thing im doing suggested no increase to my medicatiin as already bradycardic and in fact this might be a trgger this i was not aware. Overall a very professional dr whom i would have no quarms about seeing

I loved all the staff that took care of me. I was very well looked after. My only small complaint was the lady that brought the food around kept leaving my door open and blocked half the TV and at one point my partner was helping me on the toilet with the bathroom door open and she walked in to ask if we wanted a cup of tea then left my room door open so anyone in the hall way could see me on the toilet, he was holding me up so couldn't go and close the door right away which made me feel a little bit conscious. Other than that the care staff were amazing surgeon and anaesthetist were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hospital.

I always find the receptionists at The Holly difficult to deal with. The booking in experience is poor as one often has to wait for ages whilst the receptionists are on the phone or chatting or apparently doing something on their computers. It is a pity as the doctors and nurses and other staff including the porters at The Holly are extremely good. The receptionists in both the outpatients area and the scan receptionists need better training and better management. I would say however that the GP area receptionists and the front desk receptionists are very nice and very helpful so I have no issues with them.

Dr Wronka performed a total right hip replacement on me in mid-November last year. I met him first at a consultation, then again on the morning of my surgery and also that afternoon after surgery. I also saw him for a follow-up appointment in January. He has a very kind professional manner and took time to explain the procedure itself as well as what to expect afterwards. He was direct and explained things clearly, answering my questions fully. The whole experience was superb and I would have no hesitation in recommending him. Excellent.

I went to see Dr Maitra and he prescribed new medication and within 48 hours we noticed a huge improvement. He put me at ease and ensured my daughter received the best possible care. She has had 2 follow up appointments since and I’m so grateful for the outstanding care that she has received. I couldn’t recommend highly enough.

I, therefore, made a private appointment with Dr. Tatham, who was able to say I did not at this stage have glaucoma and explained, in detail and in language I understood, how this could be misdiagnosed. Excellent Consultant. Very impressed.

I would really recommend the Amara clinic. Miss Henderson was really understanding and very thorough as we discussed all the problems that I was experiencing. It was so refreshing to have the time to talk and not to feel rushed and feel that I was being listened to. Such a different experience from feeling like you’re being dismissed at the GP surgery.
