Dr Basaam Aweid is a Consultant Physician specialising in Geriatric Medicine and Stroke Medicine. He completed his medical degree alongside a Bachelor’s (BSc) degree in Neuroscience at St George’s University of London in 2006. He later completed his specialty medical training in General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at various Northwest London hospitals, including Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Following a stroke fellowship at Charing Cross Hospital, he now specialises in Stroke Medicine and has served as a Consultant Physician at The Hillingdon Hospital since 2016. He also sees private patients at Spire Thames Valley Hospital and HCA Outpatients & Diagnostic Centre Elstree.

Dr Aweid currently leads the Stroke Early Supported Discharge service under the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL). Alongside his clinical responsibilities, he serves as the Medical Director for the Physician Associate MSc program at Brunel University London and actively coordinates collaborative projects between the three organisations he is associated with.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Aweid is an examiner for national exams at the Faculty of Physician Associates for the Royal College of Physicians. He also teaches medical students and junior doctors.
