It was an unsatisfactory visit because the Moviprep hadn’t worked properly, despite me not having eaten solid food for 36 hours. The consultant couldn’t see what he was doing in part of the bowel and has suggested that I should return in six months, making this colonoscopy extremely expensive.

"Thank you for your positive rating and for highlighting your positive experience with me. It was unfortunate that the bowel preparation was unsatisfactory despite your best efforts; I shall share your feedback with the pre-assessment and endoscopy teams to help us refine our protocols and prevent this from happening in the future. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you directly to ensure your follow-up is as smooth and supportive as possible."

Achalasia

Achalasia

Struggling with achalasia Achalasia is a rare condition that affects the oesophagus, making it difficult to swallow as the muscles fail to relax properly. This prevents food and liquids from moving easily into the stomach, leading to symptoms such as chest pain, regurgitation, and persistent swallowing difficulties. While the exact cause of achalasia is unknown, it is often linked to the loss of nerve cells in the oesophagus.

Barretts Oesophagus

Barretts Oesophagus

Barrett’s oesophagus occurs when the cells lining the oesophagus undergo abnormal changes, often due to chronic acid reflux (GORD). This condition is a known risk factor for oesophageal cancer, though the likelihood of cancer developing remains relatively low. However, untreated acid reflux can lead to the advancement of Barrett’s oesophagus, potentially increasing the risk of cancer. Early diagnosis and treatment can effectively manage the condition.

This damage reduces the body’s ability to absorb essential nutrients. leading to symptoms like: Diarrhoea (often with unpleasant-smelling stool) Abdominal pain and bloating Fatigue due to malnutrition Unintentional weight loss Skin rash (dermatitis herpetiformis) Untreated coeliac disease can lead to complications such as osteoporosis, infertility, and anaemia.
