Dr. Ibrahim Al Bakir

Dr Ibrahim Al Bakir is a Consultant Luminal Gastroenterologist at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and The Lister Hospital, specialising in inflammatory bowel disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux, oesophageal motility disorders, and advanced colonoscopy.

He completed his BM BCh in Medicine at the University of Oxford in 2008, following a BA and MA in Physiological Sciences, also from Oxford. In 2020, he earned his PhD from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, where his research focused on bowel cancer surveillance in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr Al Bakir is an active contributor to the advancement of gastroenterology in the UK. As a national endoscopy trainer and secretary-elect of the colorectal section of the British Society of Gastroenterology, he is involved in both clinical leadership and professional education, supporting the development of best practice standards in endoscopy and gastrointestinal care.

His clinical expertise covers the management of irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, upper GI physiology, and the performance of gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Dr Al Bakir is dedicated to evidence-based, patient-focused care, combining academic insight with advanced endoscopic skills to optimise gastrointestinal health outcomes.
